I saw ST-TMP this weekend. It had been a while since I last saw it, not being my favorite ST movie. I was waiting for the 'visual tour' Scotty provides as you get to see the new Enterprise. I noticed that the cinematographer didn't make sure the camera and lenses were clean, and several of the shots showed bits of dust or whatever in the scenes, but the principal photography was nice and clean. BOY! High Def is a double edged sword.

Tell that to the pimples and shaving nicks on the faces of the sportscasters. :D
I'd like to see the producers of these high def versions go to the trouble to clean up such things--NOT alter the INTENDED effects--just to get rid of the OBVIOUS flaws such as those curly hairs that get on everything.

why they didn't put the remastered and the theatrical release on that DVD is beyond me.
Now if they'll just release Star Wars in blu ray, we'll be all set.

I hadn't thought about that!
I have both the "full Screen" version I bought in '02 or thereabouts, and I Just got the widescreen version. The Widescreen version doesn't have nearly the deep bass as the fullscreen version. BTW - My home system will get down into the low 30hZ range without any problems, so it's some sort of remastering of the audio.
