Hello: New to the site. Found this site while looking procedure on how to put the clutch spring back. I just replace the deck and while pulling the engine off the older deck I remove the clutch cable from the engine side where it is attached to Arm Brake. Now the spring does not want to go back and requires a lot of pressure which I cannot exert.

Question for you guys is: Is there a special way to put that spring back? I do not have shop manual and didn't observe how it was attached prior to pulling it off.

Are you referring to the Blade Brake Clutch, or the Self propel Drive?

I got it working. I spoke to a mechanic at local Honda dealer and he told me there is no special way to get it in. (Honda must have developed a special tool to compress the spring). So I made a device out of very strong flexible wire and got the spring to stay in place while I pushed it really hard in enough for cable to latch on. It works perfectly now.
