View Full Version : Side-by-side Spideys: Moebius and Polar Lights
Todd P. 10-29-2009, 01:40 AM I wasn't the only one who wondered about the size of the new Moebius Models Spider-Man next to Polar Lights's upscaled repop of the Aurora Spidey. I happened to dig up my PL kit tonight so I snapped a quick photo. Both are billed as 1/8 scale, but plainly the Moebius kit is substantially bigger.

bigger...and better methinks.
John P 10-29-2009, 07:30 AM ...which is why I thought it was 1/6 when I opened the box!
Paulbo 10-29-2009, 07:34 AM The PL kit was mislabeled ... it's supposed to read "Spider Child".

I'd have to agree with JP...this looks to be more closer to 1/6 scale if the PL spidey was at 1/8 scale.
Thanks Todd for answering that question for me.

John P 10-29-2009, 12:54 PM Straighten out his legs and measure him! :)
Todd P. 10-29-2009, 01:38 PM The Moebius Spidey is not as big as my 1/6 scale kits, but it's bigger than the Aurora monsters. He might be about the same size as the PL Phantom of the Opera, which struck me as a little large. I'd buy 1/7 scale for Spidey.
Todd P. 10-29-2009, 07:20 PM I dug out my 1/6 scale Horizon Spidey. I still think it's a little bigger than the Moebius kit, but not much. So I'm sticking with a guess of 1/7 scale for the Moebius kit.
What strikes me more is how favorably the Moebius kit compares with the Horizon. It really is a very nice plastic kit.
Please forgive the photo quality, I shot them in a hurry.

Very nice kit, though!
MonsterModelMan 10-29-2009, 10:28 PM A very sharp pencil works nicely!

SteveR 10-30-2009, 10:32 AM Or a wash?
bigdaddydaveh 10-30-2009, 12:36 PM Or paint the base color, clear coat it to seal, wash with watercolor, and rub it off the raised areas with a damp cloth when dry.
mrmurph 10-30-2009, 12:44 PM Thanks for the suggestions, all.
I envisioned my shaky hands holding a fine-tipped brush dipped ever so carefully in flat black acrylic... then sneezing. :drunk:
