I just picked up these 1:45 Tomica Dandys. The boxes they were in were a bit fragile, but they're pretty sweet, filling a niche in my Mustang collection:

Very nice. I'm not a Mustnag collector but I do like Tomica Dandys.

I am glad you are not! However, every time I buy another diecast car, my wife MustNag me about it! :freak: (sorry for the bad joke)

Wow, I really like those. Yes, I admit, I liked Mustang IIs, even had one. I'm not familiar with Tomica Dandys, though I do have a few Tomicas in my collection. Are those an older casting? Difficult to find?

Dandys are Tomica's line of larger (1/40 - 1/43 ish) scale of diecast. I think Dandys are still made and I don't know if they retire castings or not. I suspect they do.

It's OK. I use Mustnag instead of Rustang.

Hi all

Tomica Dandy were a range of models in a variety of scales. Most were 1:43rd scale but there were smaller and larger scales as well. I have a Dandy Esso Petrol Tanker which is around 1:70th scale and goes OK with 1:64th scale cars. There were some fascinating 1:43rd scale models of a London Double decker bus, Japanese Fire Appliance, Japanese single deck bus as well as cars and vans. This range of toys ended in 1993. Tomica occassionally bring out a retired model for the collector market but these are made in China and feature different wheels to original issues which were made in Japan.

Here are some pics of the Dandy 1:43rd scale Silvia:

The Tomica Dandy Mach1s come up regularly on the auction site ePay. I happened to find someone with both these colors, although it seems the yellow one is more common. I haven't tracked them regularly enough to recall any other colors than these two. I'm going to look for a couple of "experienced" models to restore/customize to more accurate replicas. Interestingly, compared to prices of the smaller Tomicas, I found the Dandys more affordable.

Chris that Silva is gorgeous! I think I may have to look for an experienced copy of it as well!
