Folks,
Just some pics from my day at Wizard World Comic Con in NYC. Though the drive was challenging, the show was fantastic. All of the guests were friendly and talkative.
Also on hand were the classic Batmobile and the DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future. I will post the vehicle pics later but for now, some of the guests...
Saul Rubinek, the gorgeous Joanne Kelley, and Eddie McClintock from Warehouse 13. They made the insane drive through NYC worthwhile PERIOD. I had a great time talking to them and even struck up a conversation with McClintock about his artwork that he had on hand, my upcoming novel (I am shameless), and the convention scene in general.
Note in the group shot with the Warehouse 13 cast, Joanne Kelley's hair falling on my shoulder. I will never wash that shirt again. I am having it bronzed ASAP.
Helen Slater was a quiet one but very friendly and VERY lovely. Erick Avari was very sociable and I found that he has an uncle that lives an hour and half from me.
Sean Young....Sean Young....Sean Young...well, she was very nice. Smiled a lot, made some comments on the Blade Runner comic and magazine that I had her sign. It had already been signed by quite a number of cast members and she noted that. I was concerned about her demeanor going into this con as I have heard rumors of her drinking or being obnoxious to people, etc. but she was very relaxed and pleasant. Rumors be darned, I guess.
I also snagged an autograph from Rekha Sharma from Battlestar Galactica for my fiancee but I did not get a picture with her. My buddy, Kevin, and I were tired from walking all day after the harrowing drive and wanted to eat and get home. She was more beautiful in person than on the show.
It struck me that Rekha locked eyes with me and I felt like she was doing a read on my aura or something. She only looked down to sign the photo but otherwise, her gaze drilled into my head. It was eerie!!! I think if I stayed a moment longer, I would've been hypnotized or dead or maybe have spontaneously combusted....
Seriously, all in all, a great day and the escape from New York was smooth.
Phil
