had fun always do at Redneck, Matt i beleive that after speaking with competition electronics that the wiring adapter i was using on my 3wk old gfx was causing the batteries to over peak, when i came home i used a diffrent set and it seems ok now, no way did i enjoy being told "if you come up over again your done" knowing i myself was'nt doing anything to directly get the battery higher or hotter .....REDNECK should stop jerking around with MICKEY MOUSE volt meters also , i have purchased a FLUKE for me personnally and will be shure never to go to tech with a battery higher than 8.43 . i can also now see why people use MM chargers , because they wont peak past 8.42 , thanks and hope to get back there soon , always lots of laughs .......dave lareau

FYI Dave a few guys noticed this summer then when using certain balancers with the GFX they were unknowingly charging up in the 8.50 range. Good idea to check it yourself to figure out which ones work and which ones dont. My GFX consistantly goes to 8.43 but I havent even tried to balance with it yet as both my packs have remained balanced on thier own.

been using a digital common sense balancer all along, i think i will just buy a lower end charger that shuts off a bit sooner

Dylan Watier and I went around with 2 meters because several guys in Big Block EDM were having the same problem. The meter that was originally being used was calibrated to a Fluke Meter prior to being used, so it was actually very accurate, and was showing the same voltage as several checkpoint and Comp. Electronics chargers. We noticed that a couple hyperion chargers were off by a tenth.

I will be purchasing a Fluke meter for the shop though, just so there cant be any question in the future.

Glad you had fun, hope to have you guys back soon!

I would just stop balancing every charge, theres no need for it, you can check the cells to see if theyre out of whack or not. The DODC SMC cells stay spot on for a long time. Balance them once a month or so before a practice run. The GFX rules.:)

I actually believe that the SMC and Thunder Power Lipos stay very balanced (within 1/100th of a volt) for a good 6-8 months. I had a Fantom/Thunder Power 5000 40C lipo that I bought when made available in January or so, and put it on a balancer 2 weeks ago for the very first time and both cells read exactly the same. The battery still puts out good numbers on the GFX too!

I was gonna let him run the pack that I charge at 12 amps 3 times a race day, 3 days a week, haha.

Seriously though, I do have 1 good SMC pack left to loan out if anyone comes out and needs it for the 150 Lap A in November. Ive been running a DODC 3200 in my Sprint and have made 150 laps a couple times already with no apparent loss of power.

The way the track has slickened up on Sundays thus far, I believe 150 will be easy with a 3200:thumbsup:
