View Full Version : Cefx 2009/2010
Josh Cyrul 10-11-2009, 07:26 PM Hello Everyone,
First off, yes..lol.. We are still around and working very hard. This year has been crazy with the work of moving our pan car program over to TOP Racing but with the unexpected sucess of the Photon TC they have not been able to keep up and move forward with the new pan cars that I designed for them. With this, CEFX is back in production with our cars and moving forward for the 2009/2010 season.
As of last week, we shipped an order over to Lefthander R/C and we have another shipment going out to them this Tuesday.
I also am working hard on updating our web site with news and info about CEFX products. On the site, you can see the new Lithium 1/10 oval car for 2009/2010 season. I'll leave all the details/pics for you to read on the CEFX site.
For any CEFX racers out there, if you would like to send over news to be published on the site please e-mail it to joshcyrul@cefx.net. We will be posting race results, pictures, set-up sheets and a lot more like we have been with our latest venture - importing/distributing Shepherd Micro Racing and Team C products.
We also have a few other very big announcements coming in the next few months so keep an eye out for those.
Well, back to work - there's a lot to be done!!
JOHNNYTANLINE 10-11-2009, 07:36 PM Great to see CEFX still huggin' that left-turn white line! Good luck Josh & CEFX!!!!
Sparky
Josh Cyrul 10-12-2009, 04:53 AM Well, time for some sleep. Updates were made to the site and other projects were worked on. I have a little to discuss with the web guy tommorow about the shopping area for the site but it is up with our Body Mask Kits just to check it all out. Now that I'm a little more fluent in working with this part of the site I'll continue to add to the list of CEFX, Shepherd and Team C products on the site. We will also add a Clearance area for some items that we still have left over from CEFX Raceway.
Johnnytanline - Going to the BRL next weekend??
Yes, I will be at the BRL next weekend so I'll see everyone down in Cinci!!
Hays Jr 10-12-2009, 02:07 PM Ran the Lithium for the 1st time in 1-cell 7.5 yesterday and the car was EVERY bit as good as it was in 2-cell. Car stayed flat and was very consistent. Hope pops hasn't worn you out too much Josh lol. See you next weekend.
Hays
MikeM 10-12-2009, 02:10 PM Can't wait to see whats new for thie year!
Looked at the new chassis on the site cool stuff when is it going to be for sale?
Jake
Josh Cyrul 10-12-2009, 04:43 PM Hays Jr - Good to hear! I will work on some set-up sheets to send out to everyone and post so that we can get some info up for everyone.
MikeM - Check out www.cefx.net. There you can see some pics of this years car (in Solid Works). Next weekend will be my first time out with 1S Lipo so we will see how things go with the minor changes.
JDW - The aluminum is at the anodizers and hopefully everything goes well and we will have it back mid/end of next week. If that's the case, we can get cars/parts packaged up and ready to ship over the weekend. In the mean time, we will be cutting the graphite to get Lefthander stocked back up.
For those still looking to run 2S Lipo we will still have a few of last years chassis available.
Back to work!!
MikeM 10-13-2009, 12:56 AM New chassis looks sweet Josh!
onefastdude 10-13-2009, 07:02 AM Yes, looks like he has been hard at work still. Nice job
Josh Cyrul 10-16-2009, 10:48 AM Hello Everyone....
Couple of updates:
#1 - New 1/12 on-road and 1/10 on-road cars are up on the www.cefx.net site.
#2 - I've had request for front suspension arm mounts that can allow for the R5 front end to go on the Lithium. These are drawn up and I will try to cut some before heading off to the BRL for guys to test out. Due to clearance issues, they don't have the wheel base adjustment as before - in the long position it's like the standard arm mounts in the short wheel base (what we all run I'm pretty sure). You can flip them around but the wheel base would be really short if you did so - I don't recommend it!!
#3 - Depending on the performance of the cars/t-bars this weekend I do have 2 other cuts drawn up. Time permitting, I will try to cut some today and bring them to the race in case we need to test them. If they work out well then we'll release them on Monday.
Otherwise, we hope to ship production kits around October 26th for all the new kits!!
Back to work and see everyone at the BRL in Cinci!!
Josh Cyrul 10-19-2009, 07:01 AM Well, back from the BRL in Cinci and I must say I was definatly impressed at how close the racing was but mostly as how many drivers were running CEFX and running so well.
In 10.5, Dusty Dean switched over to his CEFX car from last year for Sunday's racing and ended up bringing home the win!! He had a great run in the main which was a super close run down to the last 2-3 laps.
In 7.5, it was pretty crazy to see that the Lithium took the top 4 spots in qualifying plus 8 out of the top 10 spots overall. Hays Reeling Jr. lead the way in qualifying followed closely by Adam Leihr, Corey Heft and Terry Zinser. Mike Makus and Eli Ezrow bumped up from the B Main making it 6 out of 8 for the final. In the final, Hays was able to pull away up front and looked to have the race under control when there was a crash about a 15 laps from the end that also collected Corey. Before the wreck, we had a 1-6 sweep of the final going but in the shuffle after both Adam and Mike pulled off with damaged race cars. Terry Zinser snuck through and got out front to finish out the race with I believe his first BRL win!! Hays finished up second, Corey 3rd and Eli was 4th.
Overall it was a great weeked. Mr. Filo gave us lots of time at the track to practice and work on our cars after racing (thank you for the extra testing time Sunday sir!!) so thanks to him and the Tri-State crew!! Thanks to Chuck for keeping the BRL going strong!! Congrats to all the winners and hopefully I'll see everyone again soon at another BRL event!!
I keep forgetting - I will be posting news on the CEFX site from this event as well as pictures from the race. Also, I'll post the details on the new t-bars and R5 front end locators.
MikeM 10-19-2009, 11:47 AM It was a great week end for Cefx cars and drivers. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help this week end from Terry, Adam, Greg it was greatly appreciated!
adamliehr 10-19-2009, 05:27 PM Great job to everybody, especially to Dusty and TMFZ for the wins! I am still pumped at how many CEFX cars were at the race and ran very well! On top of the 8 of 10 in 7.5 we had 2 of the top 5 in 10.5.
Mark Steiner was also wheeling a CEFX Lithium 10 in the 10.5 class. He bumped in from the B and finished 4th I think. Great job for your first weekend on the car, now just get your own! LOL
Adam
Mark #10 10-19-2009, 06:46 PM Mark Steiner was also wheeling a CEFX Lithium 10 in the 10.5 class. He bumped in from the B and finished 4th I think. Great job for your first weekend on the car, now just get your own! LOL
Thanks Again for all your help Adam!
And yes, I've already told Hays Jr to put me on a list for the new car when they get them!! (Thanks Joe for the loaner!!)
Hays Jr 10-19-2009, 07:09 PM All the CEFX cars were great this weekend I know alot of people left the track looking for one! After driving Adams car and him driving mine it was pretty neat that even though our setups were very different they both worked really well. That is the greatest part about the Lithium; the setup window you have to hit for this car is bigger than any other car that has came out in recent years, very user friendly. It was a fun weekend and a good job to Terry on the win:thumbsup:.
Also the new .072" soft t-plates Josh made worked extrememly well in place of the older full cut .062" plates and held up great.
The preorder list is filling up fast after this weekend, dont wait to long if your looking to get one:woohoo:
Hays
hefty12 10-19-2009, 07:55 PM Good to see you have seen the light Mark!!
Awesome car. Looking forward to trying the new one.
jashack79 10-19-2009, 08:14 PM I want one too!
adamliehr 10-19-2009, 09:33 PM The funny part to Hays' story was that we both preferred each others cars! LOL
Adam
Terry Z 10-19-2009, 09:37 PM Thanks for the kind words.
7.5 Pro-Mod was very competitive and Hays by far had the most dominant car there. I was fortunate to have a clean run and was able to pull off the win. I liked the way everyone worked together to put the Lithium10s up front.
I can’t wait to run the new one.
bluelineracer 10-20-2009, 10:29 AM Thanks for the kind words.

I would also like to add that all of the CEFX drivers(and owner LOL) that were in attendance were also excellent representatives of their product. Guys like Zinser and Hefty are unusually quiet, but offer anything and everything they have. Add in FineTune who came along just to help the team and you have a very well respected crew. There are times when racers get hung up on "team" allegiance, but it should be noted that this crew is remarkably polite and willing to help anybody on any car.
Great runs this weekend to all of you guys and it was entertaining to watch as well.

adamliehr 10-20-2009, 11:05 AM Here is a very generic setup sheet I made a while back. I couldn't get it to attach to this post, so here is a direct link to it. I'll try to make on in excel or something later so we can have ones that are editable via computer for everybody.

That's the way it should be.....good sportsmanship goes a long way to keep people having fun and coming back the next year.. Good job to Josh and all the guy's running his cars..

Adam
Josh Cyrul 10-20-2009, 03:31 PM It worked when I clicked on it.... I'll get to work on one here...lol...
Ok, finally found the camera and I will be getting the pics from the BRL up on the CEFX site after a quick run to USPS.
Spoke with the anodizer today, they are working on our parts and we should hopefully have them back by the end of the week!! For people looking for cars, please check in with Lefthander R/C as they are starting a pre-order list so we can make sure to get everyone cars who is looking for them out of this initial batch!!
adamliehr 10-20-2009, 03:39 PM Hey guys, one of my cars is up for sale on the swap and sell forums. Comes as a roller.
Someone had pmed me last week about selling one, I accidently deleted the e-mail and don't remember who it was. Sorry about that, but you have first dibs.
Let me know if you're interested.

rdub355 10-20-2009, 05:24 PM is this car capable of running any of the orc sprung steel t plates? also what side/center shocks/springs would you suggest on a flat carpet oval? im looking into possibly purchasing a kit, and i havent built a car from scratchin a very logn time. i would be runnigni t in 1s 10.5.
adamliehr 10-20-2009, 05:30 PM No, the ORC tplates won't work on this car. AE side shocks with gold springs and Hotbodies center with a blue spring.
Adam
rdub355 10-20-2009, 05:32 PM shock oils? whata bout front end?? how often do u guys change the glass plates?
adamliehr 10-20-2009, 06:38 PM Tires: Pinks on left, double pink and team purple on right.
thd body (haven't tried chd)
Stock ae front end 0* caster blocks. 18 ae front springs. 1.5* camber .070 under front a arms 4.5 mm ride height 1/8-1/16 droop on left front shim right front to get it flat
.072 t bar w/ .040 in between t plate and bottom plate.
hot bodies center shock 3rd hole down w/ blue spring and 45 weight oil
you'll probably want 1/2 degree rear steer depending on track
regular ae side shocks w/ 35 weight oil and gold springs 2nd hole down
get as much weight as you can on the left front. And run your tweak so that your left front is about a half ounce heavier than your left rear
Here is basically what I ran in Cincy, except I used a short .062 tbar I had layin around. Sorry for the poor grammer, it'll be in a setup sheet soon.
If you use the thicker (.072) t bar, you won't need to replace them too often. I usually change right before a big race or whenever I see stress marks. Maybe once every other month, if you race weekly.

Josh Cyrul 10-20-2009, 08:02 PM Just so everyone knows - Adam isn't leaving CEFX...lol... I told him that it's always fine with me to sell his cars (I just sold mine  ) and to then send me some of the $$ back to pay for the kit, keep the rest for time/work/effort and I'll send him a new one. This way another racer gets a great car, built and race ready and we can keep rotating through new cars and test parts without waisting a lot of resources.
At any time, if anyone wants one of our CEFX cars from Adam or myself just catch us at a race or e-mail us. We will be more than happy to take care of you and get you in a built CEFX ride.
Bob W 10-20-2009, 08:42 PM Josh... U get the award for the move of the day, Sunday at Cinici. I did not see any one post Y you did not win the B main and move up to the A. Well , U and one fast dude were going at it back and forth for the lead, at the end U took the lead and pulled away.
U did something that everyone should know about. You pulled over on the last lap, and let the field finish in front of you, so U would not mess up anyones points for the BRL series. U ARE BY ALL MEANS (ONE CLASS ACT ) :woohoo:
Bob
Josh Cyrul 10-20-2009, 09:57 PM Bob - Thanks and it was a lot of fun racing with everyone. I wish I had some time to run more and have my HP program figured out so I could have given the guys a run. Honestly, I wasn't fast enough to run with Mike and Eli anyway but Adam wanted to see how fast I would run with his car so I drove it in the B Main. That's the only reason why I was even up there with those guys so I didn't deserve to be in the A Main and I definatly didn't want to take points away from those that would run and support the series. It was a blast though to drive Adam's car as it was definatly a rocket!!
Josh Cyrul 10-20-2009, 10:17 PM CEFX site updated with BRL report and pictures!!
rdub355 10-21-2009, 12:10 AM how much to get me into a built rideif i send u my shocks and front end parts???
rdub355 10-21-2009, 10:55 AM and rear axle and hubs..
Josh Cyrul 10-21-2009, 11:24 AM rdub - Hmm, haven't had a request for that one yet. $250 for a rebuild/build on a used Lithium or $300 for a new one (since there is graphite clean up involved). This would only be a special situation type thing as we only have cars available from time to time (like Adam and I selling our cars this week).
MikeM 10-21-2009, 12:34 PM Man thats a deal JUMP on it!!!!
rdub355 10-21-2009, 10:37 PM josh, so would you be willing to build me a car is i sent u a front end, shocks, axle and hubs and all eelctronics? if u want u can email me and we can discuss in detail
rdub355@comcast.net
Josh Cyrul 10-22-2009, 05:59 AM rdub355 - I'll shoot you an e-mail over.
KLEIN-12 10-22-2009, 07:24 AM Now that's taking good care of the customers!! :thumbsup:Thumbs up to u Josh !! Good to see your still the same great guy from the last time i seen you at the "October Fast" race at T.C.H.R here in MN. years ago.
keep up the good work.
TeamGoodwrench 10-22-2009, 09:37 AM What is the manufacturer and part number for a replacement left rear body post for the Lithium ?
Thx
Josh Cyrul 10-22-2009, 08:28 PM 12511 - Body Post - Evo2 Rear
That's our CEFX part #... I'm not sure what the origional AE # is though. It's their body post for the TC3 (not sure about TC4,TC5 from AE). We have lots in stock.
Thanks for the words Mr. Klein!!
rdub355 10-23-2009, 01:13 AM josh, please email me, i am very interested in running one fo your cars. i was speaking with jorge from orc about it tonight.
rdub355@comcast.net
Josh Cyrul 10-23-2009, 01:56 PM rdub355 - E-mail sent.
adamliehr 10-23-2009, 02:45 PM I made up a setup sheet in excel, but it's not very user friendly. You can print it off and write on it, but as far as editing it on the computer it still needs some work.
If anyone has a little more experience with creating editable .pdf files please fix it and post it for all.
Also, if I missed anything that needs to be put on here let me know.
Adam
rdub355 10-24-2009, 03:37 AM thanks josh...sent u one back..feel better.
