View Full Version : Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet - your thoughts?
Magesblood 10-07-2009, 11:08 PM yeah, for sure...
Only a matter of time before he got to star in a movie with "Green" in the title. heh.
Anyway, I just hope it's better than Observe and Report.
falcondesigns 10-08-2009, 12:22 AM I wont see it.
PerfesserCoffee 10-08-2009, 07:56 AM "The Powers That Be" seem to have settled on him as a favorite son. I'm not sure he's worth all the hype and attention, but he's a good, personable actor who may be just right for the role--if he plays it seriously.
Griffworks 10-08-2009, 09:05 AM Any pics?

steve123 10-08-2009, 03:45 PM I really think it will be "death on a stick"
Why does Hollywood always do this? Cruise, Carey, Ferrell, Dakota Fanning was the only little girl in movies for how many years?
They put the same person in the leading role untill we puke.

Gemini1999 10-08-2009, 07:09 PM This line has been used in many films and I find it appropriate...
"I have a bad feeling about this..."
'nuff said

Magesblood 10-08-2009, 07:17 PM Hey, lookit where Tom Hanks started. Now he's an A-lister.
terryr 10-08-2009, 10:22 PM They're going with the same formula as 89 Batman. Comedian in the lead, strange director.

I agree--it's ridiculous that more people aren't given the chance to show their stuff. The strange thing is that so often it's someone who really has very little going for him or her except for the hype.
This has a lot to do with the elitist attitudes where the big money-dealers anoint the chosen one. This or that star is only in demand because he happened to have been in a good movie that may or may not have been due to that star. They treat the star as a property with no idea nor ability to judge their actual acting talents and potential.
terryr 10-10-2009, 02:01 PM I can't think of one GH villian. Maybe that's the problem.
ynblood 10-10-2009, 03:46 PM Maybe the best thing to come out of this is they will finally release the 1966 TV Show.
Bruce Bishop 10-10-2009, 11:28 PM Based only on the pictures I have seen, I have become more hopeful the movie will be at least 'ok'. The way Rogen was talking about it at first, and with his original appearance, I thought it would simply be a mediocre movie, although I cannot imagine it being worse than the mutilation of The Spirit a while back.

I think the underlying problem is that The Green Hornet is pretty much unknown by the general public. If they know anything about it, it's that Bruce Lee starred in the old TV series. I was born in the '60s, was a comic book fan, and have an interest in similar subject matter, but even I have never seen an episode of the TV series, read a comic book, or heard a radio program featuring the character.
I'm afraid to the general public, the character is going to look like a Batman ripoff. From what I know about the character, the two unique things about him is that he pretends to be a criminal and he is a distant relative of the Lone Ranger. Otherwise, there isn't a lot to distinguish him from Bruce Wayne.
JeffG 10-12-2009, 07:52 AM It's hard to imagine certain actors in some roles...until you see it if it's done correctly. Then, you can't imagine any other actor doing the part. Hard to say. People said the same things about Michael Keaton and more recently Daniel Craig. I'm more concerned about the overall tone of the movie. Will it be taken seriously or camp? I'm not gonna rush to judgment just yet based on hearsay or a picture or two.
Zorro 10-12-2009, 09:42 AM Oh, I think it's gonna be "camp".

Stoner camp. I'm imagining Pinapple Express, with mask & kung fu.
