...steel wool, wire brush, etc.. This is what can happen!

I got these as part of an ebay auction. He had everything in one bag. Fortunately none of the other chassis got this crap on them.

Ouch! That stinks. You should send him a cleaning bill.

theres an easy fix for that. soak the chassis in rubbing alcohol, this loosens any wayward crud anyway. Then dismantle it piece by piece, and roll each piece around in handi-tak or any other latex poster putty. It'll trap the filings and itll be good as new. Ive gotten tons of chassis like this and was able to bring them all back from the dead.

Could they do a better job mis-matching the tires next time?

I just hose things down with WD 40 and blow the junk off with compressed air. Rinse lather and repeat.

Roll them magnets in tape. Duct tape should work good.

On a positive note, at least that only happened to some Tycos.

The chassis shown here were just kinda extra. What I got was:
TYCO
-57 T-Bird (Dark blue early issue)
-60 Corvette (red early issue)
-chrome Porsche 908 Long Nose
-Chrome Porsche 917
-Road Reaper truck
-Grave Runner truck
-Mustang F/C orange/yellow flames
-Camaro
-Glow Corvette

Roakar
-Mustang
-T-Bird

Except for the Camaro with a bent W/S post, all are in good running condition.

All for $24.99 BIN. I think I did pretty good.

Use a very large magnet

I know someone who tried that. Big neo beast magnet versus little ceramic magnets. The beast won.

File that tip under : "How to degauss your ceramic magnets without even trying"

I have a question.
Did you use any 4 letter words when you seen that ?

Hey Marty ,
as a side note .... apparently TKO tracks uses steel wool to de-gloss the surface of their routed tracks to get a better traction on them. I have had 2 friends get tracks that ended up with woolies much like your picks ( 1 worse ) from the debris left behind. Just a heads up that it may be a good idea to not run one's fav car before a very good 1st cleaning. My friend found out as did i the hard way since when i came over and put my car on what i thought was a ready to race track ( since my buddy did a basic cleaning ) and ended up with a favorite chassis in shambles. Great tracks but boy i sure wish we had notice about the steel wool as that would have changed the depth of prep atleast .

It's a lost cause Marty. Just send them to me and I'll see they're disposed of properly. *clears throat*
