In all honesty why settle for a recast of this kit?Just contact the Producer of it and see if they can still make them.If not then settle for a ORIGINAL not some Crap recast! bizzarobrian 10-11-2009, 01:39 PM In all honesty why settle for a recast of this kit?Just contact the Producer of it and see if they can still make them.If not then settle for a ORIGINAL not some Crap recast! Because I`ve tried to research who made it & I`m hitting a brick wall.Do you have any info to share.I would gladly buy an original but I`m pretty sure it`s long out of circulation. It`s resin & I would bet the bank that it is unlicensed anyway. bizzarobrian 10-11-2009, 01:41 PM I don`t buy recasts unless I`m extremely desperate. wolfman66 10-11-2009, 01:56 PM Because I`ve tried to research who made it & I`m hitting a brick wall.Do you have any info to share.I would gladly buy an original but I`m pretty sure it`s long out of circulation. It`s resin & I would bet the bank that it is unlicensed anyway.:confused:Regardless unlicensed or not buy a recast is strickly Wrong. Now how would you feel or Monarch if say someone like Joe shmo comes along and says hey Monarch is no longer around let me recast that kit say Sinbad or gorgo wich is Unlicensed and then so on and so on.If your a true Collector like myself that would piss you off cause it kills the Original Value and what makes it a Collectible.Just like my Halloween soicety Masks.I paid for them sometimes 300.00 maybe 500.00 a clip years ago when one David Lady came out with them only for members and in limited runs of the Universal monsters and if someone recasted those wich they have yet to do that would really piss me off.Just like what your doing looking for a recast on a Respectible Board like this one. bizzarobrian 10-11-2009, 02:06 PM Then what is your take on unlicensed kits. This is both. bizzarobrian 10-11-2009, 02:08 PM It would be sad news for alot of kits.I`m not even sure if Billiken`s were licensed. bizzarobrian 10-11-2009, 02:10 PM I have to be extremely desparate to buy one.I`m sure I`m not alone.Don`t be chasing me with villagers & torches.:) wolfman66 10-11-2009, 02:12 PM It would be sad news for alot of kits.I`m not even sure if Billiken`s were licensed. No they werent and Another thing how do you come off saying that unlicensed kits are the same as recasts they are not! These Legit Producers bust their Balls shelling out alot of money up front to make certain kits of our monsters or chick kits and for us and sometimes go broke in doing it.Plus they are not doing it to get rich cause if that was they case their would hell of alot of people making kits for that soul purpose. But they do it for the love of the hobby and thats why they will get my Fullest support no matter if its Licensed or not !.So to go off and compare them to bunch of recasters is the most [DELTED] thing to say! bizzarobrian 10-11-2009, 02:12 PM Not fussy. Can be a recast. Let me reword that some. I would prefer an original.Does anyone have any info on who produced this & where I mite get one. bizzarobrian 10-11-2009, 02:19 PM No they werent and Another thing how do you come off saying that unlicensed kits are the same as recasts they are not! These Legit Producers bust their Balls shelling out alot of money up front to make certain kits of our monsters or chick kits and for us and sometimes go broke in doing just for the love of the hobby and thats why they will get my Fullest support no matter if its Licensed or not !.So to go off and compare them to bunch of recasters is the most [DELETED] thing to say! I thought there was not suppose to be anymore verbal attacks here. It`s the same ball park different playing field. You have your opinion others have theirs.End of discussion.Talking to someone who calls me a dumb ass but can`t spell it doesn`t appeal to anyone. wolfman66 10-11-2009, 02:47 PM I thought there was not suppose to be anymore verbal attacks here. It`s the same ball park different playing field. You have your opinion others have theirs.End of discussion.Talking to someone who calls me a dumb ass but can`t spell it doesn`t appeal to anyone. You can spell it either way it still means the same and fits you perfectly!Plus didnt know that Hobbytalk was letting in Recasters or their supporters on this board like you and its pretty sad to see this happen here! jackshield 10-12-2009, 12:30 AM I thought there was not suppose to be anymore verbal attacks here. It`s the same ball park different playing field. You have your opinion others have theirs.End of discussion.Talking to someone who calls me a dumb ass but can`t spell it doesn`t appeal to anyone. member since oct 2009....hmmmmm......then how would you know what is no longer allowed/disallowed? dont care how bad i want something, no way would i buy a recast, period. Todd P. 10-12-2009, 01:06 AM For what it's worth, the Billiken Universal Monster kits, at least, were licensed. I just dug out the Frankenstein Monster and the Universal copyright is on the box. I think the other Billiken kits are licensed as well but don't feel like digging any further. Also for what little it's worth, Monarch's Sinbad wouldn't require a license because it doesn't represent any trademarked version of the character. Same would go for just about any representation of Dracula that didn't have the features of a specific performer, or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, or many others. Give your Frankenstein a flat head and neck bolts, though, and you'll have problems with Universal. Monarch's Gorgo ... I don't think it's licensed but don't remember for sure. However, I believe Gorgo is in the public domain and so a license wouldn't be required. NONE of the above should be read as a defense of recasting. wolfman66 10-12-2009, 10:43 AM [quote=Todd P.;3021356]For what it's worth, the Billiken Universal Monster kits, at least, were licensed. His father, though, so I won't second-guess him. No matter what, though, the Billiken kits were indeed licensed. It's difficult for someone in the United States to navigate the complexities of U.S. licensing, so I'll bet it's even tougher for someone in Japan. You need to re-read the Help/TOS above. Two major violations by you here in this thread: Attack on another member and using Adult Language. Doesn't matter how you attempt to spell or hide it, using asteriks doesn't change it, so far as the TOS is concerned. Keep that in mind. Y3a 10-14-2009, 03:20 PM Carson Kit? At his desk, or standing or is this a bust or somesuch? sprayray 10-15-2009, 02:35 AM Not fussy. Can be a recast. Ok now it's my turn to jump in and add my 2 cents not to add fuel to the fire but i have to agree with Wolfman and everyone here recasts are a no-no and this board does not condone recasters !!!!! also being in the hobby for quite a while i saved alot of my old mags from the 80's for refrence , now i will provide you the information you need Bizzarbrian ( maybe some people did not know this kit excisted but to ask for a recast is frowned upon )but i am going to say this i have been watching your threads carefully here and on the clubhouse and seems the way you are approaching things is bizzare unlike your tag name getting some people upset , i do not know what it is your after but alot of these people are well respected and a few are friends of mine whom i have known thru other friends and met at model and toy shows from years ago , #1 recasting what ever way you put it is making this hobby harder to get decent scupltures of kits that alot of us collectors want and alot of the legit producers who do produce them have gone on a hiatus to the recent c&d and recasters who are blowing the whistle all because of , well lets say if we were in grade school it would be like that name calling, accusations , and pointing the fingers get us no where , alot of the members here are highly respected and have years in the hobby and we find it hard when someone who has'nt been at it as long does'nt take the time to read the threads , then ask lots of questions and likes to make a fuss of things is not cool , so lets keep real !!! ok heres the information you need i got it from Terry Webbs "SON OF THE GARAGE KIT THAT ATE MY WALLET" PAGE # 76 AMERCIAN INDEPENDENT , The Johnny Carson kit you are looking for was produced back in 1991 height 11" parts :1 , color and material :tan resin , markings :none , Sculptor : Wayne Strong , i hope this helps in looking for it but i'm with WOLFMAN on this becareful how you use words ok im not jumping your case or taking sides its what i have been seeing and reading and i felt i had to say something i hope no ones offended and for the future anyone here is willing to help you just have to ask in a nice way , like they say look before you leap . Robert (Sprayray) Griffworks 10-15-2009, 06:46 AM I should've done this yesterday and wish I had.... This isn't place for discussion, folks - it's the Model Swap & Sell forum.
