I'll take the trucks butnot thr Ramcharger; there's something wrong with the profile of the roof above the windshield. There have been better G/L releases than this one.

Is it just me, or does the roof seem to be removable (looking at the detail photo)?

I'm not sure if the 1:1s had removable roofs, but if this model's is, it is severely ill-fitting. It is a police vehicle, so I'll probably get it.

Yes - the roof is removable on these Ramchargers.

Thanks,

Matt

Now that you mention it, this roof was discussed months ago when the test shot or prototype came out.
Allthough not perfect, this roof is a HUGE improvement over the eary pics of this casting. I think it'll look exeptable in person, and thank Greenlight in listening to us when we see something wrong.:thumbsup:

Very nice. Got to try and get the green machine version of that chevy truck, and ramcharger, and dodge truck, and, oh heck, I would like to find the green versions of all the cars in that series.

I sold Trail Dusters, the Plymouth version of the Ramcharger when they were new. The tops were removeable but quite heavy and nearly impossible to make watertight after reinstallation. These vehicles were introduced in 1974 and the early models had frameless door glass. When the top was removed and windows lowered, it was completely open from the vent window back. Those units leaked air and water almost from day one. Later models, like G/L's 78s, used pickup doors with full window frames.

I just checked my other G/L Ramchargers and they have the same slightly incorrect windshield shape. The BB also has the removeable top and when viewed from above it looks OK. No problem for me in 1/64 so I think I'll get one of this release to de-tampo and 2=tone. MATT, How about a Plymouth Trail Duster? No casting changes needed just new Tampos!

Hi Carhauler,

Of course we take feedback, but I am not sure exactly what you mean. We can't put out a release of all 6 Chevy trucks with a cap, that would not be good for anyone. We take our customers and our collectors input and try our best to make adjustments when reasonable.

This set has plenty of feedback on display - the Corvette and Mustang both feature appropriately sized wheel and tire combos as people have mentioned that in the past. We have a Fire Chief because people ask for that. We have a cop car truck combo - really cool in my opinion because we get so many truck and cop car requests, this is like two for one. And the Chevy and Dodge both feature truck accessories that are new to give them a really unique appearance. I hope everyone enjoys this set as much as we do.

So - as usual - thanks for the comments good and bad. Keep them coming,

- Matt

I love this set GL! It was a great combo of vehicles. I snagged 2 of the fire chief cars, one for my Dad and I, that Beautiful Stang, and yes Mr Ford collector even snagged one of those Chevy's because I liked the cap accessory. Keep up the variety and the great work!

Sorry Matt, I was implying that this release like the previous two has a couple of hot sellers (trucks) and a couple of future "peg warmers" (cars).
Local K-Marts and TRUs have ample CR Chevelles and Mustangs. I like the unrestored Chevelle but it's hanging everywhere.
Keep the releases coming.

I'm surprised anyone would even question that at this point. I think it is pretty obvious that GL takes collector's feedback very seriously and tries to be accomodating when its reasonable to do so.

The Chevy C-10 I have from this series is beautiful. The hood on mine refuses to open, so I am assuming that GL did not put an engine in this particular truck, but instead gave us a bed cap. Can anyone confirm that there is no engine in this C-10 truck, or is my hood stuck really, really tight.

I found the answer on another board. The hood does not open. No engine.

Just received my Dodges in this set from Milezone. The pickup is the nicest Dodge so far. As I said earlier, I sold Chryslers from the mid-60's until 1999. This blue (turquiose we called it) was often seen on these trucks. Not because we ordered them that way tho. Before 1994, the only tough about Ram Tough Dodges was that they were tough to sell. When there weren't enough orders to run the plant, Chrysler would build "spec" units and put them into a sales Bank. Then Factory Reps would be required to get dealers to buy those built units in any way they could. For some reason, the sales bank always had these blue trucks available, usually with weird option combinations. Now the color seems more desirable.

Nope it doesn't. I used needles, pliers, and a hammer to pry it off  I was pretty disappointed to find out that a GL car has a hood that doesn't open. I wouldn't have bought it if I had known that.

Hello Carhauler,

I see what you were getting at now - the composition of the set. Yes, we do try to mix the years, OEM manufacturers and models around quite a bit. But unfortunately you can't always please everyone so we just try to put out a balanced, well thought out set of six.

Thanks for the feedback - it sounds like you sure knew your product well on the dealership lot. Was it a Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth only dealer? It is always great to hear feedback like the info on the removable tops for the Ramcharger and how it was improved with different doors, etc on later model years - great stuff.

Have a good one,

- Matt

I spent 30 years at a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership but we had a Dodge dealer right next door. So I had access to their products. Two months after I quit (1999), Chrysler discontinued Plymouth. Since then, I've been an independent car hauler but becuase of my previous contacts with Chrysler, I haul 85% Chryslers.
I usually buy several products from each release, seldom the whole release. MCG hobby 4 is an exception tho, the whole set is great.

the roof certainly does come off... so you can vaccum the inside of it before the annual vintage police car parade... when you make sure it is on there right it fits perfectly.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this or not. The CV has a clear windshield and tinted side and back windows. Now talk about "COOL". I can't say that I have seen this type of detail on any other diecast cars in this range.

Matt, Russ and Crew keep up the excellent work.
