Calling all Sportsman Racers !!! Dust off those Legends, Losi 1/18 Sliders, Losi 1/18 Late Models and SK cars, and join us for some great SPORTSMAN Racing. Our focus will be on FUN, Fair Competition, and Lots of Racing. We will strive to bring a "national event" experience to the weekly sportsman racer. Our race format will not be the usual 4 minutes and your done.....instead you will experience single car qualifying, heat races, consolation races, last chance qualifiers and 100 + lap features !!!! We will crown the champion in each class based on total points earned through the 4 race series. Aloing with trophies for the top five Drivers in each class, any Driver that enters all four races will be eligible for great prizes to be awarded at the finale on December 13th 2009. We will also have special "hard luck" driver's awards at the end of each race. We will host the race at Walt's Hobby in Syracuse, NY. The spotlight will be turned on for the racers who are the foundation of this sport. Our goal is to not only attract future racers to our sport but convince some great veterans to come out of retirement and have some fun the way it used to be !!! Please see the attached flyer for dates and times.

Hey guys,

Great time yesterday !! Special thanks to Todd for resurrecting the scoring system after it crashed right before the qualifying !!!!!!!

Please note that the order of finish in the Losi Sprint Cars is reversed. (MY FAULT) ........still learning the system. Bruce Homer won with Bob Callahan finishing second.

Speaking of Bob Callahan.....and the reason we are putting on this series to begin with.......Bob took it upon himself to contact Joe Maratta, the famous race announcer for DIRT motorsports and Super Dirt Week, to see if he would be interested in talking about our Sportsman Racing Series, on his Saturday morning radio show. (AM1360 in Syracuse). Joe thought it would be a good topic since the full scale racing season is winding down.

Bob and I will be meeting with Joe to see when we can get a date to be on his show and talk live about RC in our area!!!! Just think of the "racing audience" that we could reach!!! I want to publicly thank Bob for this great effort. We need more ambassadors like him. I will let everyone know when we have a date to be on the radio show.

I also want to thank Larry Cobb from Cobbies' Hobbies in PA for making the trip. He finished second to points leader John Richardson in the Late Models and vowed to be back and bring some of the PA Posse with him.

Finally.....the best show of the day was the Legend's Feature!!! We finally got the RC Legend Himself, Frank DeGaetano, to try his hand on the long distant racing circuit.........and he showed everyone the way by beating a very competitive field of drivers!!!! Congratulation Frank!!
Hope to see you again to back up that performance.

Race # 3 will be Sunday November 29, 2009.

Mike

PS - Hope everyone likes the special series trophies we displayed yesterday.

Who's car will be on the Champions' Awards ???????
