New racing facility coming to CT! I will let Scott Murphy give the details...After spending the last 3 month at meetings and gathering information and going to more meetings I am finally able to inform everyone that the BRCRO was able to aquire the old skate park at the educational park and work will soon be starting on the areas first RC park Tenatively named The Bethel RC Racearena in memory of the Danbury Racearena. The facility will include a dirt oval a paved on road which will double as a paved oval and it will also have an off road track and there was still room for a pit area. At the rear of the park future plans for a picnic area are in the works. If you have any ideas for classes or if you live in the area and want to help leave a post here and we will be in touch. I would like to thank Dale Cote for starting this thread and putting link at the DRC thread. As we move forward with this project we will post pictures of the transformation of the facility. Thanks to all who have helped get this started.

Hey guys I know its only October but looking for info on what classes you want to try in the spring for the dirt oval and paved oval. Also was thinking of trying that bolink sprint chassis and McAllister street stock body and have a bomber class for an entry level on the dirt oval could also do the same for paved oval. Need input so we can be ready to rock this place in the spring.

Scotty, how big are the tracks gonna be?? Dirt would prob be EDM,Sprint, and late-models pending class interest.Asphalt Oval,i'd guess SK's,pancars etc.
I still have all my Legend stuff so.................;) Do tell Scotty!!
I know Cote' has a 55 chevy Bomber/Legend.Old bodies would be neat.
I'm kinda thinkin the Legends would sorta take a back seat with the other
cars everyones got???????????????????????????

Dirtydrc
10-17-2009, 06:23 AM
Dirt oval:
EDM
Sprints (Losi, whatever...)
The legends might be hard to hang on to in the dirt? maybe a Nostalgia class (coupes/sedans buggy based cars only no Putnam, terminator types)

Paved oval:
SK
Pan car (whatever classes TOUR runs)
Open (4-wheels, electric powered, dream it, build it, run it)

I'd be in for a coupe/sedan nostalgia dirt class.got tons of RC10 stuff around.
B4 would rock with a coupe body ey Dale??!! ;)

Good Morning Mr Cote'!

Good morning, sir!

Hmmm... gold tub chassis, 6-gear tranny, 3 piece wheels, Bolink 1937 Ford sedan, the gold shocks with the allen screw adjusters. Wait, that was my first dirt oval ride, and it wasn't vintage! Crap.... i'm old:(

DrtRcrM87
10-17-2009, 06:43 AM
I have a mint 6-gear if you need a ride............. with a manuel
Save the "old" crap there young fella................LOL!!

I still some of that gold tub stuff myself vintage coupes/sedans definatly. The bolink stuff I was looking for an inexpessive entry class I know the 10th scale sliders are inexpenssive but the whole open wheel thing with green racers may turn some away thats why I thought a full fender street stock class may draw more into the sport. Sharkey not sure on size have to get with Romo and eric would like to have yourself and Dale down for your opinions. And I have been invited to the Savin Rock Speedway Old Timers picnic we're not old just started racing way too young:wave::thumbsup:

Got the e mails Dan thanks. The wife though they were cool and started hint about the stuff I got on the bench here. I like Dales idea of an open class on the asphalt. It would be awesome to have an event like the world series of racing that Thompson runs up here in the fall. They 14 classes on the schedule this year. That would be a rather large happening 14 rc classes on the paved oval in one weekend we can expaned that to include the dirt oval maybe 20-25 classes starting on fri evening ending sometime sun night/mon morning.

Open asphalt would be neat, you could do anything with that.Let me know when you want to get together in Bethel before the snow flies..............
Talk to you soon.

Talked to the parks dept today, they hope to have the ramps out by the weekend. If all goes well with that I'll have the fence repaired and all the garbage out and we can start measuring to get the track areas layed out and the pit area marked off and figure the amount of pit stalls we can put in. There is also an area outside the fenced area that can be used for picnic and pit over flow. I am going to get some pictures and put them on here so all can what we started with and all the way through to race ready in the spring.:)

We have to mow the grass around the place the only real damage is the rear gate hinges are missing and the fence is broke in one spot. They are supposed to get me the stuff to fix it. The place just needs a real good clean up to start with.

The crakcks can be filled like kenny said but with the lay out the way we thought it out the off road and dirt oval will cover them in the back left corner where the ramps are is the on road /oval will be,and when you walk through the double gate the pit area will be on the left, dirt oval on the right then the off road on the rear right next to the dirt oval but separated by about 10'to15' feet.
