View Full Version : MaxMod Mini Sports Tire Durometers for sale!!
MrMaxMod 10-01-2009, 01:47 AM Hey guys, for years we have been making one of the only if not the only tire durometers designed specifically for remote control car tires. Our products were designed to be affordable to the independent driver, but if you go to any of the world champions in our sport and mention MaxMod they will immediately tell you about one of our products that they use themselves. Our tire durometers we an immediate hit when they came out, and still are even though we are technically out of business. Recently we have been getting more requests for the Durometer, so we are starting production on them again.
For one the asking price is $80 plus shipping
If you buy more than 10 (to sell in your shop, etc.) they are $55 a piece
All durometers come in their own padded case with instructions, and we are also looking into having a pelican case available too.

MrMaxMod 10-02-2009, 09:04 PM guess i was hoping for a more enthusiastic welcome back, but all is well
by any chance can i repost this in electronics
there are always a ton more people browsing that section
thirdplace 10-02-2009, 10:03 PM WOW! cool. I think that the MaxMod are the best.
Love me tire truer.
I'd repost in the Oval.
MrMaxMod 10-02-2009, 11:05 PM normal oval racing or dirt oval?
FossilRC 10-03-2009, 07:36 AM I would post it on dirtoval.com , your equip. is the most sought after in the hobby. I have been using tire mach. and durometer for 20 plus years. It's the best. Thanks for coming back.:dude:
MrMaxMod 10-03-2009, 10:48 AM Thanks for the compliments, spread the word that we are back. We want to start production on our tire machines again, we just do not have the money to front for the parts. If we were able to get about 10-15 that wanted new machines then we could start production again, but for the mean time we are just selling the adapters for the existing ones and selling the durometers. Also I'm adding a new option. If you order more than 10 durometers. You can get the base and top cap anodized almost any color for an extra $40 to the total cost of the order
RCMits 10-03-2009, 11:31 AM (screams) WELCOME BACK MAXMOD! ;-)
:hat: better?

jgoodwin 10-04-2009, 01:17 AM Hey guys,
Boyd is the best and builds the finest Tire Truer out there. The Durometer is a must have in the pits. Just don't loan it out. lol
Good to see ya on here.

EXTREMEFAB 10-04-2009, 08:19 PM WHAT WOULD BE THE PRICE ON THE TIRE TRUERS IF YOU GET THE MONEY UP TO START BUILDING THEM..... LET ME KNOW I MIGHT BE WILLING TO PUT UP SOME MONEY TO HAVE YOU BUILD ME SOME........ THANKS LARRY EMAIL ME AT CHROMESHOTMAFIA@AOL.COM
MrMaxMod 10-04-2009, 09:07 PM The price we would be asking for is probably gonna be about $275 retail, i know it sounds hefty when you compare it to stuff like the ofna machines and stuff, but not to ba when you look at the Hudy machines. The big difference is ours is gonna probably be 120v machine that you can just plug into your wall because the crappy 12v machines have to use very low power motors so they dont blow out power supplies. Our machines have always been known for their power and awesome abrasive cutters that rely on that power to make the best finish out of any tire truer on the market to date. i am also gonna look into making a fixture to attach that allows a dremel to be attached allowing the dirt oval guys to slot their tires per request
PS: sorry, but this isn't Boyd. This is his son Alex, i am working on getting the companies name back out there and he is working on the regular car repair work right now. but dont worry our stuff is still as awesome as ever, if not a little better
EXTREMEFAB 10-06-2009, 05:00 AM Alex Do You Have A Phone Number Where I Can Contact You......thanks Larry Or Give Me A Call (315)-569-6834

MrMaxMod 10-06-2009, 08:18 PM Hey extremefab, I tried to get a hold of you, no pick up and ur voicemail box is full. You can reach me at (626) 203-2058
MrMaxMod 10-06-2009, 08:21 PM We are looking into the cost of the truers, my guess right now is that they are gonna cost around $250-275
ScottH 10-06-2009, 08:26 PM Good to see you guys back in the thick of things!
I have one of the mini truers that I added a speed control to so I could slow it down. It is the greatest. (I added it for the BRP tires, so they did not expand while cutting them.)
Do you guys have the "Dragon Skin" replacement cutter for it?
ROCKET283 10-06-2009, 08:41 PM Like to purchase durometer, please PM me.
Thanks
MrMaxMod 10-06-2009, 10:30 PM im sure my dad could throw together a dragon skin cutter, let me get the pricing on that for you
glgraphix 10-08-2009, 12:23 PM Alex, bump you back up to the top.

KRITER 10-08-2009, 12:43 PM Welcome back, I have owned two Max Mod Truers and have been pleased with the quality and dependablity of your machines. My question is do you still make arbors so I can cut foams for RC10 {Gold Tub}. Also I need a new drive belt. Thanks, KRITER.
MrMaxMod 10-08-2009, 06:16 PM Yup, we still make all the arbors, and you can find the belt on mcmaster.com just let me get the size info
ovalnator 10-09-2009, 12:23 PM Which truer are speaking of when you mention the $250-$275 price?? If its the Bigger Black truer, I will definitely order one, and know of at least one other person who will want one also.
MrMaxMod 10-09-2009, 03:55 PM Ok, for the people who bought durometers, I just finished this batch, they ship Monday afternoon.
Anyone else need a durometer
jblackburn 10-11-2009, 02:02 PM I have one of the smaller blue Max Mod tire truers - probably close to 15 years old. I would be interested in getting another one - especially one of the big ones.
MrMaxMod 10-13-2009, 01:51 AM Sorry guys, there is a one day delay on shipping, for some dumb reason, apparently columbus day is a government holiday and the post office was closed
everything will be shipped tomorrow around 4pm PST
Anyone else want a tire durometer?

Keith Brown 10-30-2009, 03:00 PM I want to pick up a durometer asap. I'm in Long Beach, whats the best way to get one soon. Thanks, K.... I want to also know if you still have replacement motors for my Mini MaxMod Truer?
Andy Koback 10-30-2009, 06:33 PM Did we ever get a size or part number for the belt?
Bump Up!
ScottH 10-30-2009, 06:39 PM Keith. If I remember correctly the motor is a sewing machine motor. See if there is a number on the motor and look at Grainger.
ScottH 10-30-2009, 06:45 PM Andy -- I looked at mine just now.
It is a Gates Powergrip belt. 140XL037
I put that number in on the Grainger site and got it below.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/search.shtml?searchQuery=140xl037&op=search&Ntt=140xl037&N=0&sst=All
Hope this helps.
MrMaxMod 10-31-2009, 01:56 AM Hey guys, a couple people cancelled their orders last minute after I bought the materials. I have one more completed durometer left, it's all packed and ready to ship right away. Asking price is still $85 shipped priority anywhere in the USA.
Also, I am still accepting orders for durometers and I am looking for large orders for hobby shops.
To the people that recieved one of our products, I would love to hear your review of it.
BEACH 11-01-2009, 12:04 AM Any word on replacement motors?? OH, Bump this up too, Jim
MrMaxMod 11-01-2009, 02:49 AM As of right now the only replacement motors we have are for the bench racers (small black machine). I have been searching and searching, but it us hard to find a source for the bigger motors. As soon as I fing a good source, you will know, cause we will be putting the tire truers back into production.
ScottH 11-01-2009, 02:59 AM I will take mine apart and see if there is a number on it.
MrMaxMod 11-01-2009, 10:39 AM The motors in the small machines were custom backwards wound motors we had grainger make. They turned out to be an unreliable source after they lost our motors for a couple months in their warehouse causing us to lose orders and customers. We are looking for about a 1/4hp 120v DC motor that spins around 3000 rpm. That would be the best option for the new machines
ScottH 11-01-2009, 01:10 PM Is that 12vDC or 120vAC?
MrMaxMod 11-01-2009, 01:17 PM No it's actually 120v DC. You just use a rectifier to convert AC to DC
Keith Brown 12-03-2009, 06:05 PM Alex I do need to pick up a replacement motor for my benchracer. Could swing by Duarte early this Sunday morning like I did for my durometer awhile back. Thanks, Keith Brown.

that is great news....if you do, be ready for a ton of sales!!! Thanks, Jim
