Pan Car racing at R/CAR on Marion County's "Big Rug".

We have aligned our Pan Car rules package with the rules the TOUR has promoted for a few reasons.
The TOUR was designed to provide a unified set of rules for pan car racers to follow that allows all of us to run the same package through-out the US.It is structured with the racer in mind...promoting growth from one class to the next and keeping cost down while supplying the racers with guidelines to work within with approved manufacturers. The TOUR is not a sanctioning body.
Also running the TOUR rules will allow us to host an official(thx Mike)SNOWBIRDS warm-up race starting next season and hopefully secure one of the TOUR's major championship races.

Here is the link to the TOUR rules.
The first post has an attachment of the rules...just click on it.

Here is a link to the TOUR thread that has a ton of useful information.

http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/forumdisplay.php?f=314

A copy of the TOUR rules will be posted on our website and will be available at the track as well.

On the Slash by all stock is that including tires and wheels or are we supposed to use foams? Thanks Josh Shearer

...also is this what the Slash is supposed to look like? http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa208/vtxjosh/untitled.jpg

Kevin Cole
09-27-2009, 07:13 PM
Yes Josh...and I hope they all look that good!

The Slash class will remain stock...so the stock wheels and tires will be the only legal ones to run.

Those look like they are stock tires Paul Songas has on his...he has just glued painted lexan disc's over the rim with a hole drilled for easy removal.

The front bumper has to be turned over or removed for the body to fit correctly.

Matt Graves...your new home should be the new "Big Rug" thread:thumbsup:

I'll call you later bro...maybe half time of the Colts game.

By the way,Simpson & I just spoke on the phone and the 1cell 10.5 was real fast at Tri-State.He ran a 4.1 and that was his last run of a 9 hour test session. He used the same 1cell all day & never took it out of the car.
Now I want to here some arguments about TOUR rules!
Best lap 9hours in and the same $65 battery all day long.

Monte turned a 4.0 in his Silva Saturday and most others were around 4.1 & 4.2's.

Wide open all the way around the track baby...Chris said it was sick!

(I guess this all should be on the carpet thread)

There you go Bro......I'm here!!! The Mangler was fastest in practice...DAMN IT MONTI!!! LMAO. Anybody that know's Monti and his dad will get that joke!!

Chris was fastest in Friday practice and Monti was a tenth better on Saturday during the race program. That was Simpson's first time out...you know Monti was in there before the glue dried underneath the new ozite.

I will do a roll call leading up to each race day to help get a feel for who's bringing what.

We are still quite a ways away from racing...the carpet has not even been delivered yet.

I'll keep everyone posted as we complete our long list of projects.

I just wanted to get classes and rules available so guys can start preparing cars for the season.

when is the opening night on the rug???

Kevin Cole
09-27-2009, 08:13 PM
Just to clarify...we will not run trucks(any size)other than Nastrucks or buggies on the carpet.

All cars tires must stay within the cars fender...Sprints & F1/Indycars are the only exception.

Vendetta's & Associated 18th scale series must be of the car flavor and have the wheels inside the fenders.

This is a decision made to help protect the new carpet and keep it in top condition for oval & on road racing.

There's plenty of venues that offer off road type racing or carpet with jumps...we will not be offering that kind of racing indoors

Kevin, Is there any chance you might be able to sqeeze in an open wheel oval class. Being home of the Indy 500, I think this could really turn into something big. Just my opinon, I know you can't make everyone happy. Keep up the good work. It sounds like this place is going to be top notch.....

A lot of us guys are buying the HPI Formula10...and several have Tamiya F103's.This will be primarily a on road class...but I know for a fact we'll run them on the oval from time to time too.Maybe run point series that runs on both like the IndyCar series does in real life.I have to do that if I want my Indy crew chief buddy to run this class with us.

I just have to devote some classes to the on road program because they will have about available classes compared to over 10 for oval.

This deal is sure to be big fun for everyone involved.

Pennington's RC will have a couple HPI F1's available real soon.

And like I said in a early post...if we need to add a Monday program for some classes we will.

They are around $100 and will a ton of fun...imagine around 10 of them on track together(swweeet!).

We can run a mock Indy car schedule and have Grahn come in and set up scale versions of the series on road & road circuits:thumbsup:.

Although our oval is so big it will be Indy everytime:rolleyes:.

The classes sound great. Just don't spread yourselves too thin right off the bat. Sounds liek the only thing you all won't ahve is R/C drag racing. Be careful to not overload and burn out. This sound liek it is goig to be THE premier R/C facility. I am going to be in Indy Oct 13-15th for work. I will have the evenings free and hope you guys can find something for me to do:thumbsup:.

Those are just offered classes...we will split things up and most would rather run with several people in a class.

kevin what will you guys run in the indy car, battery, motor ,tires

ThrottleKing
09-27-2009, 10:38 PM
In my opinion I would aim to keep it cheap and competitive also fun. I would say to run the silver can 540J motor since it is the cheapest motor and it can't be jacked with. I don't beleive you can fit anything bigger 4500 in the 103 so I use the SMC 4100 and it fits real nice for $60 plus it has wires instead of bannana plugs so it doesn't jack up the body on one side. I would think any 5000 or smaller lipo would be fine with me and any fixed endbell brushed motor thats tamperproof.

We have to wait and get the HPI and F103 together and see what will work best.Jeremiah has some good starting points to look hard at and we'll move forward as soon as we get the two together.

Tamiya is releasing a couple others soon as well. One of which will be more top shelf compared to the others.

I'll keep everyone posted...and most of that info will be in the on road section/thread when I get it going tomorrow night.

I have to ask these questions about the two Legend classes. Can you make any modifications that are not listed in the rules? Examples: carbon fiber axles, shaved tires or any of the other things that where going on at the other southside track. The legend classes should be cheap to run but if I have to use aluminum hubs, carbon fiber axles, shave a new set of tires down every week, or tampered with motors. I just don't want to get into that "He with the most money wins" thing. It did get a little crazy with what some of the guys came up with last winter.

Kevin Cole
09-28-2009, 12:57 AM
Don't worry Scott..we're not headed down that road.

Both sets of Legend rules are what they are.

We have several New Castle,Muncie, and Ft.Wayne guys that run that brushless package. And we need the Spec class for the 4H program, novice kids to graduate too,and the guys from Joe's run those rules.

I have several thoughts about it...actually more about what I dont want than what I do want.I guess we've all been on more bad stands than good stands.
Seriously JP...your help would be awesome on it and greatly appreciated.

It needs to be longer than the one on the outdoor track for sure...and I want it far enough away from the track that the guys can look out at their cars instead of down at them when they go by the stand.About 4 foot high...yet safe for the young drivers.

We also need to build a elevated race directors area in turn3.About as high as the stand with plenty of room for two chairs,a work surface for race directing and small pit space...storage,and plenty of power for the computer, chargers, and a mini fridge:thumbsup:
