View Full Version : Who Wants A Free Hemi?
grayhouse 09-14-2009, 11:36 PM I was checking out the modeling forums looking for tips and ideas and I ran across this promo.
http://www.gomotorbids.com/Promo_HemiEngine.cfm?Lot_ID=854804&Loc=120
I just signed up and ordered mine. It doesn't look like the best quality and it's only 1/18 scale, but hey it's free. Alot of people at the forum have already recieved there Hemi's so it's no joke. Just register. Go to checkout and the item is automaticly placed in your cart completely free of cost including shipping. Be fast. I can't say how long it's gonna last.
MudSlinger 09-15-2009, 12:27 AM Awesome! Thanks for the heads up, just signed up and ordered mine.
69Stang 09-15-2009, 12:31 AM Thanks for the heads up here on the diecast boards GH. Of course this kind of offer really screws the already member. Ah well, the smell of progress....forget the people that brought you here and covet the ones yet to come!
Wow, and I did'ent want the motor anyway! Just think how I would have reacted if they had something I really wanted?
But in all seriousness, thanks for the link.
grayhouse 09-15-2009, 01:14 AM Am I to understand that you were already a member, Ward. If so sorry buddy. That does suck. Your really gonna hate me when I tell you that they seem to be substituting the Hemi for a Ford 427 cammer with some people.
dragonhead00 09-15-2009, 01:36 AM Thanks for the heads up on the freebee. I hope they don't do the swap with me. Still, free is free. I don't think I have that Ford cammer engine, either. I have a hemi but with chrome valve covers.
Liv N Low 09-15-2009, 01:49 AM I signed up for a freebie ....Wonder if the motor will turn ?
69Stang 09-15-2009, 07:04 AM Am I to understand that you were already a member, Ward. If so sorry buddy. That does suck. Your really gonna hate me when I tell you that they seem to be substituting the Hemi for a Ford 427 cammer with some people.
NOOOOOOO!:p
Just my luck! Yep, I am a member, but seldom buy from there. I guess I'm the reason they decided to make the offer in the first place!:)
70_442 09-15-2009, 07:06 AM I'm already a member too. When I signed up I got free shipping on my first order. That was more than $40, and since I'm not a mopar fan, I think I got the better deal.
THANKS for sharing the link though:thumbsup:
grayhouse 09-15-2009, 08:50 AM Heres a few pics someone posted of the actual hemi motor they received. No, nothing turns on the motor and there is no wireing or fan belt, but with a little customizing it should make a nice little display piece, or even a new motor for any of you guys out there with 1/18 die cast mopars. Also don't expect your motor anytime soon. If you read the fine print it looks to take 4 to 6 weeks to recieve if thats all you oredered from them.
Ward, I'll tell you what. If they send me a cammer it's yours. The cammer sounds nice but I really wanted the Hemi.

GLH Turbo 09-15-2009, 10:19 AM Thanks for the link, what an awesome deal especially for a Mopar fan!
I hope that this comes soon so I can put it with my 1:6 scale Testors HEMI. :)
terry9911 09-15-2009, 10:55 AM They forgot the sparkplug wires :freak:
Looks like my order went through so I guess I can add wires to mine when I get it :)
terry9911 09-15-2009, 11:09 AM I signed up for a freebie ....Wonder if the motor will turn ?
Rub a little Ford grease on it and it should run!
DCPDGUY 09-15-2009, 11:10 AM I signed up but did not read it till now. Good thing because you have to check out. Took a look around and some neat stuff on there just wish I had disposable $$.
jnkfleet 09-15-2009, 03:09 PM Thanks Troy, I registered..I'm into most of thier categories, and frequently shop online model supplies and projects for customizing.
Good link my friend.

Stangfreak 09-16-2009, 08:10 AM Very cool indeed !!! But I'll have to pass, I have toooooo much stuff now as it is... I'm not a Mopar Nut, I really like them though, so I'll let mine go on to a real Mopar lover !!!
Thanks for the link !!!
bob8748 09-16-2009, 01:41 PM I signed up. Nothing wrong with adding a new site to shop from.
Thanks!
grayhouse 09-17-2009, 06:46 PM Well, my Hemi came in the mail today. I was shocked by the speed in wich I got it (3 days) after reading that it would take 4 to 6 weeks. Like I stated earlier nothing spins, not even the fan. The pulleys don't seem to line up very well either so adding a belt will take a little bit of refitting. I'm also a little surprised of the heft of the motor, it's got a bit of weight to it. All in alll I can't complain considering it's cost and it does look pretty nice sitting next to my mopars :)

Liv N Low 09-18-2009, 02:15 PM Wow, That's fast ....Knowing my luck, mine will take 4-6 weeks..... LMFAO
Mr. John 09-18-2009, 03:02 PM Just recieved mine, not bad at all! It's missing the oil filter but thats an easy fix, and adding plug wires will be a fun and quick eye catcher! Thanks a bunch Grayhouse!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
dragonhead00 09-18-2009, 05:10 PM I got mine after a few day, too. I figured they would be flooded with new sign-ups. My other Liberty Classics engines are 1:12 or larger (doesn't say on the pieces), so I was surprised at the small size--although I knew ahead of time that it was 1:18. Nothing really to behold, but it's free. Still, I love the hemi and it's a welcome part of my collection.
MudSlinger 09-18-2009, 06:49 PM Got mine today too. That was fast! three days from when I signed up. I was also surprised at the weight, and I agree, with a little mods, plug wires and a belt it should look real cool. You certainly can't beat the price!
1968RLC 09-22-2009, 02:03 PM Thanks for the heads up
smilinbob3 09-23-2009, 04:18 PM Thanks GH, This will be my first promo freebie and my first engine! Anyone got a pic of that Ford motor  I think I would like one of those more, thats just me:freak:
terry9911 09-30-2009, 11:09 AM I got mine in record time but I was thinking it was going to be much bigger!
CarCrazyDiecast 09-30-2009, 12:34 PM Would someone be so kind as to post pictures of the mods they do to this engine? Not being very mechanical OR familiar with the actual engine, it would be cool to mod it to look more authentic. And for those like me who aren't that knowledgeable about all that needs to be done, show and tell would be wonderful!
Thanks in advance!
Mr. John 09-30-2009, 01:23 PM Here's a couple of pics from a member of another site I belong to. He's added plug wires, fan belts and a fuel line although the plug wires and fuel line are too big IMO. The only thing missing is the oil filter.
smilinbob3 09-30-2009, 04:52 PM I got mine today! didnt even take a week.
