Yes, you read it right, RC Racing and Sports Complex is opening a carpet oval and road course track in the very near future. The track will be located at 7868 Groveport Road, Groveport, Ohio. Phone #614-778-9691. Website: www.enhobbies.com. They have an outdoor offroad track that is opening up tomorrow. They have a hobby store at the Gender Road Shopping Center, south of the Kroger Store. Brad, Dave, Christie, Tom, and Mrs. Dutton would love to hear from you. I have talked to them this week and they are very, very serious about this project and are moving very quickly to get the carpet and other essentials in place. What a breath of fresh air to have a local track close by again. Later, Jim Workman

Hi guys, I'm new here and I've been looking for something near Columbus! This is great news! I raced in FL about a year ago, and raced for quite a few years back in Phoenix, and I'm itching to race again.

The last time I raced was 4 cell 10.5, but I'd like to race Lipo now, any idea what the classes will be here? I'm not totally familiar with the Lipo rules, so I'd need to know what to get to be ready for it!

Thanks for any info, I'm really looking forward to this!

Mike

Nothing is set in stone as of yet, but I would follow BRL Rules to play it safe. Welcome to the area. Jim

I visited the complex and ran some laps on the off-road course Saturday.I'm excited to have a carpet track in the area again.I hope to see a lot of the pit road crowd there. The off-road track is nice, the people are very friendly and seem to be very serious about their plans for this complex.I have been spreading the word locally and would be happy to help in any way that I can.

Any rough idea when the carpet will be down? It's just my luck that I will most likely be moving in the beginning of November back to FL, so it would be nice to run a couple of times before then if possible!

Do you guys know if the shop has much available for pan cars yet? I'd rather buy from there right now than order online. I stopped by on Sunday, but they were closed.

Thanks!

Hey Mike, sad to hear that you will be going south. I don't what distributors they are dealing with right now. Give them a call and maybe they can assist you. Hey Gabby, that's great to hear. Can't wait to run with you on carpet again just like old P R times. I may be finished on dirt for the season. Later, Jim

I think I need a little break before the carpet season begins. Feminine influence might be the cause. I really had a great time this summer and looking forward to get on the "huge hoop" next summer. Can't wait for this new track to get going.. Later, Jim

I was wondering when this track for the carpet will be open. I have been looking for a local track in columbus to race on carpet again ever since platnuim hobbies went under:mad: i quit racing :(because can take the time to drive to race.

so i hope this is susscesfull and stays around for a while. when will carpet be ready.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

redfoxr
09-22-2009, 07:14 AM
There are a great deal of hurdles they must jump before they can lay carpet. Too many bureaucratic guidelines to follow. A fair estimate would be Nov. 1.
But, then again, they are as anxious to get the track up and running as we are. Be patient, it is going to happen. Later, Jim:)

JIMCLARK73
09-22-2009, 12:29 PM
They have to satisfy the local fire marshal, get permits etc. It's a lot more complicated than starting an outdoor track.I will be patiently waiting.

From the number of views on this thread, it looks like this track will be a hit once things get rolling. I can not wait to start making the carpet fibers fly. Patience is a premium now and getting my equipment ready for opening day.
Keep talking on this thread to keep the excitment brewing... Later, the other Jim:hat:

Yea i cant wait till opens too it has been long enough for me and cant wait. I think it will be a hit there is now were inside of a hour of columbus to run on carpet i quit racing on carpet once platnuim hobbies went away.

I started to racing 1/10 touring on carpet when platnuim hobbies open up and since then after they left i sold all my stuff. i was wondering is there anyone on here that raced there that is still around? Anyways since i sold all my stuff i feel left out of the loop. now there is lipo and im still doing my reserch on that i have no clue about that and the only rc car stuff i have im y chassis of my 1/12 AE rc12 L3 old school and i was just about to get into 1/12th scale.

so if anyone out there has some xtra stuff for sell and can point me in the right direction im not trying to but all new right yet but i have a long way to go to get all my stuff back and hope to for opening day.

Also if you guys need help with the track or plumbing i can help i been doing comercial plumbing for 7 years and i also help build and the track and building for platnuim hobbies .......WILL WORK FOR RC GEAR ....LOL

I hope this place is a hit and stays around

I was wondering when you guys were going to chaim in... Nothing set in stone yet. BRL rules will probably be the way to go. Tgreed these are 10th scale and believe you me you will get plenty of help to run oval, but then again they will be running onroad as well so you may be happy both ways... Later, Jim:freak:
