Disney's new D23 official fan club is currently having its first expo in Anaheim -- it started this morning. One thing (among many) they're having is a display of "Treasures from the Walt Disney Archives," which includes the original 11-foot Nautilus model. See here, second photo on the page: http://etckt.com/2009/09/09/d23-pre-show-pics/

Neat. But for 3 days only. They need a more permanent display that people can plan their vacations around.

Ah! You were part of the team that restored her, then!
Have you got any close-up and detailed pics? Anecdotes concerning the construction?

There is a large model of the Disney Nautilus at the USS Nautilus Submarine Museum I believe it's in Groten Conn. but it's been awhile sence I've been there so I'm not sure. Is this a copy of one of the filming miniatures from the film? When my family and I visited there back in the 80's the model was displayed above the doorway as you entered the exibit. We took plenty of pictures of the real sub but none of the model. Let me know if anyone has any pics or info.

That's brass sheet and real rivets!

the understructure is made of 1/16" brass with .007 thick rivet embossed brass plating soldered along the substructure making up the hull's exterior.
