View Full Version : Cot body mounting question
GearboxGraphics 09-23-2009, 01:16 PM All I can say about the COT is this... last night I was over a lap ahead of the track record, set in February, the second time out with the body. Unfortunately a lap car didn't give me room to pass and I ended up getting turned around, and I still only missed it by a tenth.
No complaints here.
I need to move to NY! You guys must race like every night of the week huh?!
The COT looks to be promising at the end of the day. I think once more people ACTUALLY race with it, opinions will sway more towards the good side. I myself have not tried out a COT body yet, but will be doing so very soon!
casper60 09-23-2009, 03:35 PM Not every night, but when the track in Rochester opens up for the season I'll have the potential to run 4 times a week between two tracks, both within an hour of my house. The biggest advantage of that is the practice time I can put in trying new things with the cars.

For sure its not the body making you faster mabey diffent bat or esc better set up.Didnt you guys run the other bodys with the back out ect?
At least we figured out we dont need the front edge of the back of the wheel well hanging down now it only makes sence to trim it to follow the rest of the body.

casper60 09-23-2009, 05:17 PM No, it's not the body making the car faster, but it's certaily not slowing me down. When I set the record in February I ran 12 3.1's up front. Last night in the main I rattled off 17 of them. While I have to admit the car is reeeeeally good, the body didn't hurt anything. Mind you, on a bigger track there will more than likely be a difference

3.1 is pretty fast lap what is your run line. Our fast laps with the 13.5 cot is about 3.9 on a 135 tp 140 foot runline (with the smc speck 25 c 1 cell lipo.

casper60 09-23-2009, 05:45 PM I've never really measured it but I would have to guess it's in the 100-105 foot range
Racer 06082 09-23-2009, 11:00 PM count youre side damns with sticky tape or shoe goo em into place. I use goop from Home depot...pretty much same stuff. lil on both sides , stick in place , pull apart let air for 15 sec then stick em... dry in place 15 min... full cure over night.
bud3738 09-24-2009, 06:18 PM ok guys here are the golden rules for mounting a COT body
1 mount the body in the center of the wheel well provided in the body mold
2 the splitter can be trimmed to 1/8 inch
3 the hood can not be any lower than 2 1/2 inches at the wheels
4 the roof may be no lower than 4 3/8 inches
5 the back of the body must be left in and on a protoform body it still must have the protoform mold in the back.
the mold lines on the side are a reference point. as long as you meet the 4 and 3/8 height they do not matter.
steve and i have gone over these rules. so if you have further questions go
ahead and ask

2 1/2 inches at the wheels?.....do you mean from the front axle?

2 1/2 inches in the middle of the hood above the front wheels
bud3738 09-24-2009, 07:27 PM so your not talking about height.....your talking about centering?....dont understand
slotracer577 09-24-2009, 08:01 PM it is a height from the track at the location of your front axle. Not from the front axle to the hood.
John
captain11 09-24-2009, 08:04 PM The height at center of hood no less than 2 1/2 inches.
WLMaye 10-03-2009, 07:03 PM After two weeks running the COT body all I can say is... this body ROCKs!!!!! handles great on the track and works really great around other cars. More stable and doesn't get out of shape as easily. I turned down on another car today that was getting by me on the back stretch and the car did a 360 and kept going.
Has anyone moved the wing forward or backward for tuning?

FLYINGFINN#8 10-15-2009, 07:20 PM Just reading this thread has talked me out of running COT.
J-Dub Racing 10-15-2009, 08:18 PM Its pretty easy Brad. Just cut the car on the lines and you are good to go. You can go a little below that and still be legal, but not much.
