Hello Gents,
I am starting a new thread for the 2009/2010 Triclone season. I have seen a few post in the old thread and thought it a good idea to start a new one so that it does not confuse those less cerebral among us. It looks like the Latemodels are going away and being replaced by the COT body. The 21.5 spec will also go to the COT body. All COT bodies rear cut out will be cut at the bottom of the rear bumper, no higher. COT bodys are to be cut at the mold line as well......these bodies are not to be wedges and no slamming to effect an aero advantage. Just go with what was said in the TOUR or BRL rules "if you have to ask....it is not legal" or something to that affect. Well let the comments begin and hope to see all of you on opening day October 17. The schedule is posted on the new web site @ http://www.triclonercracing.com . See Ya.

Update....see my latest post for the classes and rules.

So the battery spec for the 21.5 class is changing from the 3200 28c to the 3200 40c? Is the 3200 28c pn 3228 not avail any longer?

We are just carring over the battery that we used on the outdoor track so that there would be no need to buy new. I am sure that someone will have the 28C battery in stock....don't know if SMC has stopped production though.

I was not aware that the 40c was being used outside. I was under the impression that the plan was to stick with the 28c for a while, but i guess not.

We are going to keep the battery to the SMC 3200 28C and the Orion 3200's. Thats why we went with the SMC 3200 in the 1st place. Jr says it will be "track suicide" to change the batteries now. Quote from Hays from the begining of outdoor thread.

The battery used in 21.5 is the 28c, and still very readily available, I think Lloyd just gets confused (or he's been cheating all summer LOL). The BRL is not changing any rules for the 21.5 class for this winter (3200/28c SMC, 21.5SS motor only, no wings, keep the back of the body in, open tire, open ESC), so hopefully Triclone will keep it the same as last year also for simplicity purposes.

Good job LD, except the 3200 are 28C ONLY, like the ones we have not the 40c. We did not run the 40C outside.
Any class with the 21.5 motors will be Novak original motors, not the Ballistic.
13.5, 10.5, 7.5 can use any motor and ESC.

I know Davis hasn't been cheating, he's too cheap or can't afford to buy the 40C battery.

Sorry Guys,

My post above should have read SMC 28C. I have edited the post after a call from information central. Thanks Hays.

If I was cheating....then I am poor at that as well LOL. Just trying to get too much info out and forgot that there was a hugh battery debate last year and miss typed. I knew my Homies would get me straight. Thanks Mr K. Sorry for the confusion Jim.

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but I got a question. I know this isn't necessarily a BRL track but how come so many classes? Thats what 4 or 5 classes plus those other mini cars and maybe open sprint. Why for the sake of making things simple can't the track just have classes like the BRL or Tour. I may be wrong but to spec classes just seems like alot to me. I understand the old latemodel class but from lloyds first post it seems like every class but 21.5 2c pro is running the cot. How are you going to tell the difference between all those classes, except for laps. I'm not trying to be difficult just want to determine what class to run, I no longer have any 3200 packs. Jason

Because not everyone wants to buy new equipment and with addition of the different sprint car classes, we have 18 different classes. Live with it.

Curtis, contrary to what LD says, we live in a free country, so you can run whatever class you want!!

As far as the spelling class, I'm usually a pretty good speller, I must of had a mental lapse (as I do for about 2 min of a 4 min race) can I be excused so I can explain the rules and class structure to Hilpert?

You guys should be greatful you have 5 classes on a weekly basis, I dont know what to do to get more than 5 guys to come to race at RC Performance. Im still on the fence if it is worth my dads time to setup the track to race on. If you dont know he has health problems and has breathing issues that dont allow him to do much manual labor. He sets up the track on his own time and by himself every friday before race day. If we cant help the car count in madison and piss people off at west bend by bitching about 5 classes there wont be oval racing in Madison once again.

The purpose of the TOUR was to get oval racing stroger. I hope this will happen, so far it doesnt look like it though.

Nice sarcasm Hays you been taking lessons from pat? With all the COT cars running how would you ever tell what class is running. I agree with Hack but if tracks don't support the TOUR whats the sense in running at that particular track. I like racing tri-clone but I also want to try racing more of the BRL this season. If I run 10.5 1c or 13.5 1c that would be hard to compete at tri-clone because there isn't a class. I wasn't trying to start any issues from my original post but that figures to get some sort of smart a** comment. Maybe I'll just cherry pick in the Masters COT class. I have an old CW chassis I can hack my way thru the field then, that won't piss the rule makers off then.

Hey lloyd if the ballistics are roar approved why can't they be ran in the classes except BRL 21.5? There not that much different except for being completely repairable. Is there another reason? Jason

What are the rules going to be for Masters COT and Spec. COT? What tires are legal and speedcontroller.

jashack79
09-05-2009, 04:49 PM
Per BRL and Tour rules the Ballistic motors are legal in the other classes.

I understand that Jason but the rule makers at Tri-clone say no
to ballistic motors, like lloyd stated in the first post, I was just wondering.

Jeez, carpet racing is 6 weeks away, chill out about the rules, some of us are still racing
outside. The BRL rules will apply to the appropriate classes if and when they are run.
We will define the classes and post the rules when the time comes.
jashack79, if your dad has to do everyhting by himself and you only get 5 guys, it doesn't seem to be worth the effort.

All classes follow brl-tour rules except for the spec classes which ld posted. 21.5 is same as last year-brl. I think thats all that needed to be said.

this is why oval has become a pain. we use the arguement that we don't want to cost anyone more money than we have to. I can live with that but we all know we spend it anyway. just like when I brought up the one cell thing early this year and was chastised for it. now we are running one cell outside. now we have to limit sped controllers and other things thats BS. now that novak has an adjustable speed controller in the works what are we going to limit. I was looking at buying another car for inside to race maybe a couple of different classes but am holding off now.

my thought to this is to many chiefs not enough indians.

same for the motor issue since the ballistics can be rebuilt or the stators changed to help a guy save money when he races a couple classes now we will have to buy more motors to compete in west bend so how does that save us money. just something to think about.

the other thing I wonder about is why is it we only here about rule changes to west bend on here ( the forum) why aren't the group of racers made aware if some changes may be coming and allowed to vote on the rules for the upcoming year instead of them being forced on us by a few. I love racing there but this seems a little odd to me. that those of us who race have really no say in what is changed or the same in the rules for the upcoming year.

Im done ranting for now.

I think you will see that 21.5/2s is still gonna be a popular class, maybe even the biggest still. The same motor and same battery that you ran last winter and this summer, are still the only ones allowed. No need to buy anything new, run what you already have! The BRL is also leaving this class unchanged and will have a strong following, so you can travel the series as well if you'd like and not have to buy anything new. 1cell/10.5 (with open battery, open motor, open esc) and 21.5/2cell (SMC 28c batt, 21.5 SS motor only) are the exact same speed, run them together. If you wanna convert to 1cell, then buy what it takes....If you don't wanna convert, buy nothing and run what you already have! Either way, you're gonna go the same speed and race with the same group. my .02 cents!
