Try applying a load with partial choke on the carburetor to see if it helps any. What you describe generally indicates a fuel delivery issue. Could be a leak in the intake manifold, but is usually a problem with the carburetor. Post back with your findings and we can proceed from there.

Also see if you can locate the model and spec numbers off your engine and include them as well.
