View Full Version : 2010 GASCAR schedule
COYOTE 08-26-2009, 10:50 PM Guys,
You know how i like to get our schedule worked out and posted before the end of the year, so now is the time to give me your ideas and preferences on tracks to run next season. How many races, and how many throw outs, and which tracks do you want to run????? I always like for you racers to give me feedback on what you want to do, since this is YOUR series........ let me hear from you. Post your ideas here, or e-mail me through the GASCAR website, or at coyotekars@aol.com. Thanks for your continued support in GASCAR. I am looking for an even better and more competitive season in 2010.

ScottH 08-30-2009, 05:30 PM Lagoon Park
Carolina R/C Complex
Maybe the "Wood" the new track in S.C.
Look into the concrete track in Indy and the Rt. 281 track in Pa. Those are LONG HAULS and may only warrant one visit races instead of the usual 2 visit per track.
COYOTE 08-30-2009, 06:44 PM Can you give me a contact for the Rt. 281 track in PA?
ScottH 08-30-2009, 06:47 PM sbrown@two2cool.com
Shawn is his name.
ScottH 08-30-2009, 06:50 PM I did some mapping and the Indy track is 7.5 hrs from us but 11+ from the Carolina guys.
I will look into the Pa. track.
The Pa. track is 12hrs from us and close to 8 from the Carolinas.
That is a HAUL!
COYOTE 08-30-2009, 08:04 PM yeah, I like keeping drive time to 6 hours +- if possible. Maybe a big race or Nats would make a 12 hour trip worthwhile. The point is....... would those guys travel down south more than once?? To get nitro oval moving and get new blood, we might have to consider making longer trips. If we can expand our racer base, then it would be more practical to travel those distances. We did travel to Calans, VA in 2005...... that was a haul for us. i am not opposed to it, but if we drive there, they should be willing to drive here. The question is.....how bad do you want to race?
COYOTE 08-30-2009, 08:14 PM We need some input from the Carolina racers on this.......... I need to know what you guys are thinking and are willing to do. Let me know, okay?
Tim
scottman2007 08-30-2009, 09:07 PM Hey Giys I have raced at the new Oval at the Marion Co,fairgrounds In indianapolis on the southeast side,This oval has a 600 ft run line up High and Over 400 ft run Line down low,We have run pan cars With Brushless Motors and they do great, you can see the track at www.rcarassociation.org. Just a suggestion guys.
Kevin Cole 08-30-2009, 11:40 PM Thanks Scott...Tim(GASCAR)and I have been talking about a possible 2010 date. The dialog will continue with more detail as soon as we can get Floyd involved.
Sam32 08-30-2009, 11:56 PM I haven't seen it in person, but from what I know about it the new Rosewood track in Goldsboro, NC would be a good addition. It would be 4-5 hours for me.
ScottH 08-31-2009, 12:01 AM Some of you Carolina guys need to make a trip to the Rosewood track and check it out.
oldnum3 08-31-2009, 08:29 PM indy or pa,easley,rosewood,montgomery,clover,rock hill - 1 race each - same 6 race program just 6 different tracks.
ScottH 08-31-2009, 08:32 PM I need to move to the Carolinas with that schedule.
oldnum3 08-31-2009, 09:00 PM Trust me this one is better than the 9 race schedule i got brewed up. You have been on easy street to long. No one has traveled more than myself by far. I love to race but not at the same tracks 3 or 4 times a year. I am sure we will talk more about it at the upcoming race so I will shut up and let yall figure it out.
ScottH 08-31-2009, 10:41 PM Put that 9 race shedule up here big boy and let's see it.
I will admit I am a little bored with the same ol-same ol. Just not sure if I am bred enough to drive some 12hrs to race. Now if it were combined with a National type event, then I could get into that.
Oh and you shut up, what you going shy on us all of a sudden?
COYOTE 08-31-2009, 11:38 PM Maybe if we thought of a way to make the races bigger and more appealing. But, we cant do that without increasing our racer base. You can't have a nationals every month, but we can think about this. GASCAR has always invited the 1/10 electric and 1/4 scale crowd at each of our races. But, we can't have that nasty ole sticky fuel all over the track for the electric guys.........LOL. I am not opposed to having the electric boys race as part of the GASCAR program....... but we would need an electric representative to monitor the tech end of the electrics. I don't know nothing bout racing no lectrics.......
A bigger race with a combined nitro, electric and 1/4 scale program might bring in enough racers at each race, to make the longer travel worth while. We might even come up with a way to make the electrics run longer enduro type races with a battery pit stop. Staying with the GASCAR format. I am open to suggestions from the electric guys...........
Tim
ScottH 09-01-2009, 12:07 AM I wasn't intending for every race to be a National type event. Although it would be cool.
I meant that for the long haul race, say in Indy or Pa., combine that or run in conjuntion with a big race (i.e. National) at that venue so it make the long drive more appealing.
kevina250 09-01-2009, 02:19 PM Oh you don't want to know it. I get tired of 8.5hrs in two months. Think you got it easy. It still hasn't even out yet on time wise.
oval racer 2 09-01-2009, 08:02 PM we have ran the 09's at rosewood a couple of times, the do fine. i practiced the .15 once w/ easley set up. it needs some tweaking for sure, but would be fun. they are still working on infield, but should be done for next season easily.
COYOTE 09-02-2009, 12:07 AM I understand what you meant, Scott. I was just throwing out an idea, that even though we cant have a Nationals type event every month.........we could try to promote it that way, or by inviting more classes, ie, the electrics....... That would take some work, but it is a thought.........
Kevin Cole 09-03-2009, 12:33 AM Here's a video of some race action from the new track in Indy.
The off road track will not be in the infield next season...and keep in mind this was after just a few months work.We have a solid agenda for improvement in the spring...we just wanted to have some fun with it late this summer.
There is some quarter scale action at the end of the video.

ScottH 09-03-2009, 07:42 AM You guys do rolling starts for the electrics. That is COOL!!
Kevin Cole 09-03-2009, 11:38 AM Rolling starts & Nascar style qualifying...best of 2 laps.
We're trying to break the norm with our outdoor program...indoors will follow the standard format.
We're waiting to here from Tim for any additional information. But we're certainly open and excited about possibly hosting a race.
As soon as we get the nod, myself and a few others plan to start building cars for the series.I'll probably start with the new car/class mentioned in another thread with the COT body,.12 engine, and spec tires...as soon as the rules are set for it.
Clinchkid 09-07-2009, 04:41 PM Go to Rosewood,Clover "lakeside", Easley, Lagoon park, Rock hill or other. Have 5 races no throw outs. Start in April or May and run through October, every 6 weeks. That way it will allow people to go to Outlaw or mason dixon races. No red flag stops. Lets try to set up heats by 2 lap quals. Just some thoughts.
ScottH 09-07-2009, 05:34 PM With the suggestions coming in...
Do you guys want to have the GASCAR Series to schedule around the Mason Dixon Cap Tire Nationals and the Outlaw, if it happens again this year. Thereby NOT including these in the points for the GASCAR series?
I like that idea personally. It allows us to run the series and then to attend the National type events without being concerned about a double-whammy at the Nats if you have a bad race.
I will let you guys know if I want to make a return trip to Rock Hill after the next race. ;)
Sam32 09-08-2009, 12:31 AM Brian, I really like the ideas of no red flag stops and 2 lap qualifying, especially the no red flag pit stops, I hate those.
I would have liked to have seen the Mason-Dixon counted in the points this year, lol. I don't care either way if they count or not next year, but I would like to avoid a back-to-back GASCAR race and nationals like we had this year.
ScottH 09-08-2009, 12:34 AM I would prefer the green flag stops as well, but with both Tim and I being in the same main, it makes it tough to do that.
Sam32 09-08-2009, 12:36 AM Maybe if the sportsman and limited classes take off we'll have more pit guys next year.
ScottH 09-08-2009, 12:39 AM I hope so. The pit stops add such a cool element to the race. The 50 lap fuel stops really take that out of it. Just make it into several sprints.
tight off 09-22-2009, 07:38 PM I have to say the thought of running a GASCAR at a high speed oval sounds interesting. We have a track in N.E. Ohio, freddiesasphaltoval.com. When you get to the site, surf around a little bit. This track was built with 1/4 pounders in mind but as you can see works well for 1/18th. and 1/10th. The track has 9 degrees at the ends and 7 in the straight. 425' run line. I think Mr. Bartos ran low 6s. I would like to know if there are any GASCAR members close by. If so, I can arrange a test and tune. If not, will anybody be in the area this fall?
ScottH 09-22-2009, 07:43 PM there is nothing that can compare to running Nitro-Pan. It is great to run right past the 4-minute mark and not even think about dumping. :D Trust me, once you get into running this stype of Pan-Car, you will throw rocks at your electric cars.
I am not positive but I think John Foister has made a trip to the track to test cap tires. Not sure if he was running electric or Nitro.
tight off 09-22-2009, 08:29 PM Scott, Any luck on anybody close by? Just a little FYI. I'm an old 1/8th scaler from about 1975. The only way we had a suspension was if suptin broke. The only thing I own lectric is a razor and a 18th e-revo for the dog to play with. Looking forward to hearin from you.
ScottH 09-22-2009, 08:59 PM The closest guy I know of that has a Nitro-Pan car is John Foister, he owns John's BSR Tires.
tight off 09-22-2009, 09:26 PM Thanks Scott. I'll have to give John a call. With that said how bouts a heads up on car and motor. I already tried to start a class with a serpent f180 and it's now a shelf queen. Looking forward to your advice. Thanks in advance. Dave
ScottH 09-22-2009, 09:34 PM There are several out there.
Coyote, KSG and Hyperdrive. As far as motor, we all run the OS 15cv w/10er carb. Check out the GASCAR website for the rules. Basically, you must run the engine box stock. You can neither add or remove metal on the engine.
www.gascarnitroracing.com
www.teamcoyoteracing.com
The KSG site has been riddled with viruses so I do not think I would go there.
www.hyperdriveracing.com
tight off 09-22-2009, 09:47 PM Thanks for the sites. I'll do some surfin and try to get my head around whats up. What lap times should I expect at Freddies? I think 1/10 mod was 5.50.
ScottH 09-22-2009, 10:49 PM What is the run line?
Also are they running caps or still on foams?
tight off 09-23-2009, 07:00 PM They were running foam and the run line is 425'. 9 degree corner 7 in the straight.
ScottH 09-23-2009, 07:42 PM Not sure of the grip level, but with caps I would expect times equal to those. Try gearing the .15 about 17-18/60.
Benjie Wright 01-10-2010, 09:40 PM Calling PORCH DOG_ PORCH DOG have you got any 10-4's on a schedule yet or not there bubby. I need to know-duh.
