View Full Version : BL Hitler base & parts needed.
Auroranut 08-26-2009, 08:50 PM Hi guys,
I've recently picked up an incomplete Born Losers Hitler kit for an excellent price (thanks Ed:)) and I'm after most of the base parts.
I'm after the base, pillbox, wall, tombstone halves, tree, and flag.
The figure is molded in solid white. No box, but instrux were included. Is this the original?
If anyone can help, please PM me with price.
Thanks for looking:wave:

scooke123 08-27-2009, 11:54 PM If its a solid white like the old Hawk weirdos its an original - if its more a translucent white its the late 80's reissue. Sorry, can't help with any base parts for you though.
Steve
Auroranut 08-28-2009, 03:57 AM Thanks mate:). Yes it's the original. I've done a little looking around and dug up a fair amount of info including looking for 'em on eBay. Mine's now primed and ready for paint. If I can't find a base I'll scratch something as a temporary measure...

scooke123 08-28-2009, 11:09 PM If nothing else I know you can cast stuff -I have a kit I'm going to build at some point. I could send you whatever parts you need you can cast them and send me back my parts when your done. That may be easier than scratching a base.

Zathros 08-29-2009, 02:53 PM Sorry I cant help, Chris..but I can tell you about those kits..my own is built and painted, or id be happy to loan you the parts from mine..
Parks makes plastic garbage cans, or did, anyway, and are based in New Jersey...they put those kits ( Hitler, Napoleon, and Castro) out in 1961, I believe..The molds sat for YEARS...until 1988, when Bob Bennet from Long Island, NY...called them and asked if they still had the molds...They said yes, and offered right off the bat to sell them to him...he bought them and had them shot in his area...and sold them I believe for 19.99 each..he placed an ad in Fine scale modeler..I bought a set..I still have the napoleon unbuilt and in the plain white box it came in..I can provide you with a photocopy of the hitler instructions, if you need them..and by the way..I have had originals..and the plastic on them were translucent as well...a cheap quality polystyrene was used by parks, the same as they used in making thier garbage cans..

Thanks for the kind offer Steve. I really appreciate it mate:wave:
The problem is it'd cost a fortune in rubber and resin to cast it!! It might even be as costly as buying a whole kit...
If I can't find the parts I need at the right price I'll scratch a base for this one and hunt down a complete kit when I can afford it.

Thanks for the great info Zathros!! I love learning kit history and Park Plastics is one I knew nothing about. I collected FSM religiously for decades and I think I recall small ads in the back of them for these kits. I wanted them then but it was a lot harder to buy from overseas in those days.
Hitler is my favourite in the series and I want him ready for display at the Queensland Hobby & Model Expo next year. The military guys'll crack up when they see him....:p

scooke123 08-30-2009, 10:19 PM Good luck on the build-up!!! If you do have to scratch-build a base shoot some pics of it so we can all see. Do you have the other 2 kits in the series? I really like Castro as well. Napoleon is my least favorite but all 3 were great kits!!!
Steve
Auroranut 08-30-2009, 11:14 PM I don't have any of the others Steve. I'd like to collect them all but there's no hurry.
I'll post pics once I get Hitler finished. I have nearly a year before the QMHE comp so I can take my time with him.

Gerry-Lynn 09-02-2009, 09:06 PM Hello Chris and Happy Birthday!!!
I do have an extra Hitler kit - It is the reissue from Bob Bennet a few years-ago. If you don't find an original later - Let me know if you're still interested. (I do have all three of them from Bob - extra's) Plus the instructions.
