Monster Mania was freakin' awesome. First, John Astin was fantastic. Got autographs on Gomez Addams and Frighteners photos, then met director John Landis and got an autograph from him for Evon (my fiancee--she couldn't make it to the show). His credits include Animal House, Trading Places, Spies Like Us, Three Amigos, Michael Jackson's Thriller and lately, episodes of the TV series, "Psyche". He was a very friendly guy and I was impressed with his leather sport coat.

From there, it was off to former pro wrestler George "The Animal" Steel. I am not a wrestling fan, but he was in Ed Wood with Johnny Depp and Martin Landau so I got a photo signed from that movie. Then I went to Michael Berryman who is usually a horror actor but he was in Star Trek IV as an alien communications officer at Starfleet HQ.

Then I FINALLY got an Abyss photo signed by Michael Biehn which I could not do at Chiller Theatre when I saw him last year. At the time, he didn't have any pics from that movie and I jumped in his line before I hit the dealer room so I only got Terminator and Aliens pics from him then.

This time, I hit the dealer room BEFORE Michael's table and one dealer had an Abyss photo as well as the ST IV Berryman pic. Kudos to Kindle (the dealer)! Also this time around, Michael was much more fan friendly which I appreciated very much.

I also talked to Sid Haig for a bit about his episode of MacGyver. I'm a complete MacGyver freak and he had a great role in one episode in which they did an award winning stunt of airlifting a horse while it was running with MacGyver riding it being chased by Sid Haig.

I only took pics with Astin and Landis. I had taken a pic with Biehn at Chiller last year and Berryman and Steel were more novelties for me so I skipped. Besides, we were getting hungry!

The dealer room and hallways were standard horror collectibles. Some SF stuff. A few makeup artists who were applying horror makeup for a fee. Very impressive work. My friend Mike Riehl was there with his hand painted ornaments and they were a huge hit. He had every horror character under the sun as well the logos from Ghostbusters, The Fog, Chiller Theatre and more and he had John Astin sign a Gomez Addams ornament. If you attended BotStock in 2008, you may remember Mike and his robot ornaments.

Next Saturday, off to Super Mega Show!
