View Full Version : 2009-10 Mt. Pleasant Carpet Oval!!
Brittamaster 04-09-2010, 12:53 PM Thanks Keith
As Far as SST Class on the Sign up sheets for Bay City It say's SST Truck 13.5
1 cell.
I guess it should be 13.5 truck body 1 cell 25c spec tires 2 wheel rear wheel pancar with GTB, 200 teken Software rs or rspro
Brittamaster 04-09-2010, 12:57 PM Just so everybody knows for the Spring Fling any of the advane timing ESC ARE NOT allowed in Spec or SST Or legends Same goes for Balistics
Scott call me
Well you just eliminated at least 5 from the SST class because I'm sure the guy's with a RS or RSPRO are not going to buy a different Speed control for one race. They use the Teken with the 200 software..
Hey Dave, tell us how you really feel.
OK, you asked for it here goes..........
Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to suggest some things that wed can build on. I have been doing this for 20 years and it has never been this mixed up with the technology changing and all.
Spec is Spec. That is by definition a tightly controlled rules package.
Let's face it. The round cells should be gone by now. So....
Spec:
Spec tires (yellow stripe) any spec compound.
Any Full body (stock car, truck, Camaro, whatever)
17.5 Motor (any brand) must be able to prove its a 17.5
Battery - SMC 25c 4000 mah 1 cell Lipo
Pan car chassis
36 oz. weight
ESC: Approved by June 1st
If you want to run a brushed 21t spec motor, you have to also run the Spec 4 cell battery, and weigh 40 oz. (if they arent available, I can build some NiCD batteries. I have a good source for those)
Super Stock (Spec)Truck:
Same as this year.
Spec Tires (yellow stripe) Green Rears, blue RF, Silver or Blue LF
Only approved ESC's (approved by June 1st)
Battery - SMC 25c 4000 mah 1 cell Lipo
NASCAR style truck Body
Whatever else I missed
13.5 Super Stock:
TOUR 10.5 rules except with a 13.5 motor
10.5 Pro Mod:
TOUR 10.5 rules
There is a natural progression in these classes
i.e. after you have mastered spec, you can buy just a motor and maybe a body (depending on what you ran in spec for a body) and move up to SST.
Same with 13.5 SS and 10.5 Pro Mod. Just buy a motor to move up.
Moving from SST to 13.5 SS however, will cost you. Typically, if you are moving up to 13.5 SS, your skill level has advanced enough to justify buying a ESC, battery, tires and body, and it will be worthit.
Racknor 04-09-2010, 02:03 PM Ya what Dave said! Now let's go racing!
Promatchracer 04-09-2010, 02:09 PM Well you just eliminated at least 5 from the SST class because I'm sure the guy's with a RS or RSPRO are not going to buy a different Speed control for one race. They use the Teken with the 200 software..
Thanks Pat I fixed it I was typing at working and looking for the boss to come in at the same time so I was in a hurry
Just so everybody knows for the Spring Fling any of the advance timing ESC ARE NOT allowed in Spec Pan Or legends Same goes for Ballistics
SST is the Same rules we have been following 203 Tekins will be checked and if it is used You will be called out as a cheater So Make sure you know what version is on your Tekin
Racknor 04-09-2010, 02:25 PM Mine has 204.

Only 1 1/2 till I get there :)
hobbyten 04-09-2010, 04:59 PM While we are talking about changing things, perhaps we should address the SST (Pancar Class) and SST (Tranny Truck Class) having the same name.
It seems like that always leads to confusion at signup time at both MP and GR.
Ideas? Suggestions?
13.5 TT?
SS Tranny Truck?your right do away with the tranny truck class. just kidding. just change the tranny truck class to ttc simple right.

Dirty Dog 04-09-2010, 10:26 PM Pat your new truck is done and it has the new HERE KITTY KITTY setup in it.
Dave your wheel dots are done.
Fred I am working on your numbers now.
Ray I have your I SUCK stickers for you.
LMAO!!
hobbyten 04-10-2010, 05:35 PM the boys were flying today at mp. i heard some words being said about her kitty kitty kitty. everyone seemed to be getting tuned up for tomorrows racing.
What a fabulous day of racing today! Scott and his race crew really know how to throw a season finale. Just imaging a bunch of Devantiers all clapping loudly for you guys.
Casey - Can't wait for Kevin to post the results, then we can clear up the discrepency on how many times I passed you in the main. I'm pretty sure I got all those laps back that you took from me during the season. ;)
Keith - I know you have that great big spoon, but I want to publicly THANK YOU for pulling out that big tuning fork for me. It made a huge difference with my SST. It's a good thing Ray taught me how to wheel that thing around the track at the increased speed.
Russ - Kaylee is a free spirit, you're just going to have to learn to live the fact she likes to tap your car. If it'll help, maybe you'll have to run buggy #4 in my fleet so you can give her a little free spirit back!
Ray - Congrats on the big win today. You were definitely the road runner today. Good luck with it tomorrow.
Mark - Thanks for telling me to go hunt down the Whacknor guy. I struggled with that gearing issue most of the season, and that was the answer I needed.
kevinm 04-10-2010, 08:23 PM Here are the results from race #7:
toytech 04-10-2010, 08:42 PM had a blast today the sst class was fast and close racing, sad to see the MP season end  what a year it has been
Duke - I think Kaylee found your kitty...
kevinm 04-10-2010, 09:26 PM Here are the final points standings for the 2009-2010 season.
Roadsplat 04-10-2010, 10:32 PM Great day of racing. Already looking forward to next season. Thanks to everyone that helps make this one of the best track around!!!
Keith, Greg.....do you know who won the 10.5 A-main?

Keith, Greg.....do you know who won the 10.5 A-main?
just who was that fast man? Ray
Yeah, who did win the 10.5 Main? Rumor in the crowd was that it might have been the guy who won the fling last year.
Keith - Okay if I give Ray your new cell phone number? Duke says he keeps getting a "Sorry, this number has been disconnected" when he calls your old number.
Duke - Kaylee is really anxious for you to come pick up your kitty cat.
kevinm 04-11-2010, 11:46 AM Here are the track records for the 2009-2010 season.
OvalTrucker 04-11-2010, 09:24 PM Thanks to everyone that has helped make another fun season of oval racing at Mt. Pleasant!
That especially means 'thanks to the racers'!
You guys are great and it has been a blast racing with all of you.:)
We have alot of people that help make the races at Mt. Pleasant happen and the coolest thing about it is they all want us to have a good time and a inviting atmosphere. Jim Hanson is right at the top of the list of people that make MP a great place to race. Sparky has been instrumental with the track layout and setup stuff too!
The new carpet was definitely the highlight of the year. It has made the racing even better then before. At first I thought it would be a lofty goal but, with all of the support from we get from you guys it happened sooner than I thought.
We should have a few announcements in the next few weeks or so on what will be happening next year at Mt. Pleasant.
There will be a few class rules announcements. Spec pan and the ever changing "Hot Shoe" class is being re-invented and/or worked over. These classes are currently under review but don't seem to be too far from getting figured out.
Also, I'm trying to come up with a couple ideas to generate some more new people to start racing and try to bring back some guys that have not been around in a while. Any help in this area is welcomed and appreciated.:)

OvalTrucker 04-20-2010, 11:14 AM There has been much discussion in the past 6 weeks about possible changes for the 2010-11 pancar classes.
My further comments on that discussion can be found here on the MP thread.
The current discussion is being focused on the fact that some SST drivers with Tekin speedos have been using v203 to at least advance their qualifying position. While it may only be a few drivers, that is all it takes to ruin it for everyone else. It is certainly possible to use v203 settings to add just enough of an edge to put you up front and possibly not look to obvious. Without teching the ESC, you'd probably never know.
Tech at MP has only found one case of a driver using v203. That person was given a pass for that event based on the circumstances in which he accquired the ESC. Nonetheless, he was DQ'd for that day.
Based on recent findings, v203 is being used much more often at other tracks that have not ran a tech operation. Mostly, because the honor system was being used. Thats all well and good until the trust/honor is blemished.
Apparently, the overcharging issue raised it's ugly head in GR. That is one thing that has not been found in the SST class at MP.
Although it was mentioned before that we would not change anything in the SST class, something has to be done to stop the temptation to cheat. I may have to eat the words I spoke about not changing anything.
I believe every truck at MP at the April race was teched. I plugged all the Tekin speedos into my computer to check which version they were running. Everyone's battery voltage was checked also.
One quick and easy solution to this is to go to a one speedo rule. Probably GTB's or Havoc's. They are cheap and readily available. Although kind of a kick in the pants for those that have been running our Tekins within the rules, myself included.
For those that choose not to buy [or possibly can't afford] a speedo that meets the rule criteria, it sounds as though there will be a 13.5 open speedo class that they can move to.
Please note - nothing has been decided. This is all up for discussion.
The Spec Pan class is under review also. Discussion on that class is welcomed too.
Duke Bradshaw 04-20-2010, 11:30 AM One speedo is an awesome idea.....GTB and or Havok is good for everyone yes even the Tekin guys, they are 1/2 the money and how many would have to buy one. sounds like the majority are running GTB's. (I don't think Rob D will like my comment, Hi Rob!)

so just because Duke keeps getting his but kicked by his cheating little buddy from GR and others I won't name any names Andrew the rest of the legit tekin drivers have to pay the price
OvalTrucker 04-20-2010, 12:02 PM I hear ya Brian.
I don't know what to do yet.
Hi Duke! Are you enjoying the weather today? I think Keith is outside sitting in his lawn chair.
I've already said my peace (hmm, poor word choice) in the GR thread. I'm sticking with my Tekins, and that's all there is to it - some of us (okay, me) don't want to "have to buy one". If there is an open 13.5 class, I'll switch to it. If it happens to spec, I'll pull Kaylee from that class and try her in open 13.5.
I'm just going to be an ornery bass turd on this one: I am not mounting a GTB/HAVOK into my Dart cars.
Roadsplat 04-20-2010, 01:14 PM This was quoted from the GR thread...
The jury is still out on what may or may not change. There are other people that I would like to hear from.
.........................
I'm sure that I'm not one of the people you want to hear from since I will not be running the SST class but I'm still going to give you my opinion.....
Personally I do not agree with specifing an outdated, old technology, ESC. I for one do not buy things that are outdated and I have never to date, bought a used ESC ( I have however sold a few). If I’m going to spend $100 or more on something, I am dam sure that I want it to be the latest thing available, not something that is basically obsolete.
I have heard a few people make the statement that you can buy GTB’s all day long on HT for about $50….while this may be true and it certainly would be cheaper initially than spending $115 on a BRAND NEW Mamba (that would come with a year warranty), what happens when that $50 ESC takes a crap 2 days , 2 weeks or whatever amount of time down the road? Do you really think the guy you bought it from will say “Oh let me take care of that for you”. I highly doubt it, so now you are stuck with either sending it in and paying Novaks repair fees or putting it on your desk as a pretty little orange paper weight. If this does happen, then that $50 ESC just became the cost of buying a brand new unit. I do realize that this may never happen to anyone, but the potential is great when buying used electronics. Yes I know that Novak sells remanufactured GTBs with a warranty for $80 + shipping…but it is still old technology and something that COULD NOT be used competitively in any of the other classes should someone decide that they want to run something else
From the standpoint of the guys that were running the class under this years rules in which the Tekins were legal, I think it would be wrong to tell them that they now have to buy something different. It was proven this season that they could be run together very competitively, AS LONG AS NO ONE RAN V203 . I think the teching got a little relaxed and some jumped on the opportunity. I truly do not think there would be an issue if cars were teched.
So that Scott would not have to handle all the teching, I would be willing to be the person to tech the cars ESC. Since I will not be running that class, I will not be under any pressure to get my car ready to go out and race. I also always have my laptop with me so that is not a problem either.
I have to go outside now so I can check the weather that these guys are talking about.

sst is fine the way it is lets just tech the speedcontrolers not that big of a deal  one bad apple shouldn't ruin it for the whole bunch

well said Ray, I think you are our new sst tech you got my vote
hobbyten 04-20-2010, 01:21 PM i think that the rules need to be left alone as far as speedos go. if someone is caught cheating in the spec classes i say ban them from running the spec classes. lets not penalize the guys running legal because some jackbutt feels the need to cheat to try to run at the top.
Here's an easy solution-----run cars! 13.5 open

I also would like a 2nd class. Thats why I have been running SST. Thanks brian for the "kind words" I was just stirring anyway. I don't really care how the rules come out. The GTB is competitive with the non 203 tekins. Ray does bring up a good point about the old tech.

Brian,
Did you not hear?????? Several of the "High End" guys (Dave being one of the many) tallent wise that is, will be running SST next year!!!! Yeah....I'm excited........................................NOT !!!!
I will be running 13.5 only if this happens as I will not have my arse handed to me in two classes.......thrash all day and get whooped in two classes....I am smarter than that!!!
I have a very fast SST for sale if anyone is interested. PM me if interested.
Racknor 04-20-2010, 01:50 PM I have just talked to Ray and he has come up with a great idea. Put 6 balls in a bucket with 1 - 6 on them. Draw one out before the race starts and tech that car only. I also think is a GREAT idea. Ray is so smart!

Running against some of the top drivers does one thing really well....makes you work harder and get better yourself. Do you seriously want to only competete against people that you feel don't challenge you?
I know Keith wouldn't be as good as he is today if he didn't have to run against me. :)

JOHNNYTANLINE 04-20-2010, 02:14 PM Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. Or should I say TECH-TECH-TECH. Let me try to explain something
here. . .
Tech is something we do (should do) to KEEP THIS BS FROM HAPPENING!
It keeps one from having to even think something fishy is going on. It's not that it should be done, rather it MUST de done. It has to be in place for both "sportsmen"
and "hot-shots".
We seem to have gotten relaxed with this in sportsmen classes, and quit alltogather
with the hot-shots. I think this is a very KEY mistake.
Tech-ing is like an EQUAL-COMPETITION garrantee, but I believe it has an additional
value as well. When sportsmen see hot-shots ALLWAYS go thru tech, it creates
a far greater comfort to the notion of moving up to a faster class.
When I go thru tech, it's not so much bringing me comfort to my efforts chasing
Keith, Dino, & Dave, as it is showing the kid, (& their parents) and sportsmen, that
we're doing it right-and-fair.
Racing is very fun, but winning is hard. It's the "hard" that makes it great. If it was
easy, then we'd all win, & it wouldn't be any fun.
Tech-Em, Tech-Em all!
Sparky
