2Groovy4U 08-24-2009, 07:44 PM Hey Rob, I got my order today. The front axles look great!!!
Raymond
MURDOCKRC 08-25-2009, 11:37 AM Glad your happy with them Raymond. Even though the original run was not as pretty as some would like:cry:, they work just fine......but with the newest run we are very, very pleased with the appearance and function now:dude:
Keep turning those laps
Rob @ Windtunnel
ovalguy1 08-26-2009, 08:11 AM Hey Rob got a question for you. I have been running WT orange and blue side springs. I want to try the V hive what would you statre with? Asphalt with caps..
Ritchie Mac
MURDOCKRC 08-26-2009, 06:53 PM Generally Ritchie with the Barrell springs of any type I advise guys to start one rating heavier and work from there. They work from both ends really and will start with the softer feel and progress. Once you find the ones you will have a very good car......especially with lipo racing. In heavy testing done now as well as before they were released there was not a single spring that could touch them.:dude:

slots 09-05-2009, 10:25 PM Hi Rob,
Getting ready to order some tires for the oval season. Noticed the new compounds listed on the site, need some answers.
The new Platinum compounds - you call them "natural rubber" which I take to be like the Pink/Magenta/Purple group, right?
The new Plum - same as Green/Blue but softer? Maybe like the old Yellow?
Jim Good
MURDOCKRC 09-05-2009, 11:16 PM We are in the middle of major changes right now Jim. Plum is nothing like either of the current compounds. As soon as we can disclose what they are I will make an announcement. I will say that in testing They are a very good tire. Hopefully we will have things in place by Monday night
Rob @ Windtunnel
Dont forget about the new inline axles. Greatly improved from the first batch and we will also have some new body announcements as well. New detail and other stuff coming
:dude:
GearboxGraphics 09-06-2009, 11:15 PM I picked up some of the new axles to try them out. Gotta tell ya, they don't look real pretty, but should work out just fine.
They seem a little rough, as the bearings don't slide on them real smoothly. It also took some serious work to get the Muddslide king pins through them. I'll give them a go this weekend and see how they do.

Hi Cory,
If the axle you are talking about is a Windtunnel axle it is not a version 2 "PE".
I also looked and could not find where you purchased any axles direct from us off our site. Also the version 2 "PE" axles have not shipped to Hobby Shops yet. They began shipping to customers on Aug 18.
Each and every Version 2 "PE" axle that goes out the door is personally inspected. How do I know this? I do it. I inspect every one of them. That's right. Every one of them.
What do I look for. First is the cosmetic appearance. Every area of the axle must be as smooth as can be, from the shaft to the inner portion of the king pin hole. These axles are SMOOTH.
Second, I check the fit to a bearing. One thing we have found is that 1/8th inch bearings from different companies vary in inner diameter ever so slightly. So we had to take this into account when we set tolerances to our axles. I use 6 different company bearings including steel and ceramic to test fit every axle. Plus each axle shaft is pre polished. Our axles were designed to have the tightest fit to a bearing that can possibly be manufactured using the most up to date machine tools available. Again we want no slop.
Third is the king pin hole. I check every king pin hole for any burrs and I test fit a properly prepared king pin. WE WANT NO SLOP. As a matter of fact we feel that every king pin should be polished to fit. But we know that some racers also want to pull a king pin out of there parts box and have it fit without much work. So if that is the case then a slight reaming of the king pin hole using a 1/8th in file may be what some will want to use. We don't recommend that. But one thing is certain. A Windtunnel Version 2 "PE" 1/8th in inline axle king pin hole will have no slop in it if the king pin is properly prepared. Remember "If the front end isn't correct than nothing behind will be either"
So I could go on and on but one thing is certain. The version 2 "PE" Windtunnel 1/8th in inline axle that began shipping on Aug 18, 2009 has the smoothest finish possible and has the tightest tolerances that can possible be done using the most up to date machine tools available.
MURDOCKRC 09-07-2009, 11:21 AM Windtunnel HP front end kits are once again listed. They have been on fire again lately so those of you who were trying to order and alerted me to this I thank you.
As mentioned with the axles.......if you use another brand you may not get an accurate fit. Windtunnel King pins are matched to our axles. Do not mix brands if possible. And the PE has just began to ship so if you have older ones they will not look as clean but will still function just fine:wave:

I have no idea what version they are, I walked into the hobby shop and got them cause I had to have them.
The axles that I purchased were not very smooth on the shaft and the kingpin took quite a bit of forcing to get in. I am not saying that you are supplying an inferior product, please don't misunderstand. I'm just saying THIS PARTICULAR set of axles leave much to be desired.
BallisticBill 09-07-2009, 06:35 PM We are aware of the undesirable cosmetic apearance. That's why we now have our version 2 "PE" available. You will have no trouble even with the version 1. Just do alittle work on your kingpin and the kingpin hole in the axle. You want both smooth and the kingpin POLISHED.
Take care.

bill, im sure hes talking about some of the older axles! i ve got a couple that i had to chuck up in a drill press and work over just to get the bearings to slide on to them. and i know they are some of the oldest ones from way back. i know your latest batches were real nice, cant wait to try the new version:wave::wave:
NASCR3 09-11-2009, 02:52 PM Where can I get a new style pinion tree to hold all of these new BIG Pins.
Thanks,
John
MURDOCKRC 09-13-2009, 09:38 AM We should have 1 set of the Hyperdrive pinion racks left. I will know more on monday but they should be on the website for you to purchase

Roadsplat 09-14-2009, 12:37 PM Is the part number for the front axles version 2 pe WT3216 ?
I didn't see anything that stated version 2. Just want to be sure and order the lastest when I place my order.
Thanks
RC
MURDOCKRC 09-14-2009, 04:33 PM All 1/8th inline axles now say "New for 09-10" So anything that is being shipped at this time will be the newest versions. Part number is the same but the label does have the "PE" on it as well as a sticker that signals that it is new
Rob @ Windtunnel

Roadsplat 09-15-2009, 12:02 AM Thanks Rob. Will be putting an order together shortly.

Stroker Ace 09-15-2009, 12:52 AM I'm assembling my new HD front end and need some help. I have the short king pin version and am using barrel springs.
I mounted the aluminum castor block directly to the lower arm with the screws provided, put the brass swivel ball in the lower arm with the shoulder pointed toward the steering block, put the plastic swivel ball in the upper arm with the shoulder pointing toward the steering block and put a red spring bucket at the top and the bottom of the spring. The problem is that the spring has a lot of preload. Any suggestions?
I've moved the swivel balls from arm to arm and have changed the direction the shoulders point but that was no help.
The other concern is that the screws provided are long enough that they bottom out in the castor block before it tightens up so I may have that mis-installed.
Thanks.
Mark
MURDOCKRC 09-16-2009, 09:06 AM You have the correct king pins Stroker. Check to see if you have your windtunnel spring buckets going the correct direction. The shoulder of the buckets need to be on the inside of the spring. If you have them going the wrong direction then you will have more preload than needed.
As for the screws for your windtunnel castor blocks, make sure you have the short length ones coming in from the bottom. Anything longer will not work correctly.
Remember as well that the Windtunnel HP front end caster blocks are made to be moved in and out as well as be turned around for different upper arm mounting positions. This is one of the dominant features of the Windtunnel front ends. There is nothing on the market that compares.
Rob @ Windtunnel
MURDOCKRC 09-17-2009, 11:33 AM Stroker.....shoot me some detailed pictures of the build on the front end. I use the exact same kit on my cars and there should be no problem with preload. This may help me to narrow it down for you

X man 09-23-2009, 02:04 PM Guys are you going to produce a COT body this year.
Dan
MURDOCKRC 09-23-2009, 04:59 PM I have a COT body designed but as of yet I have not begun to pull any. Just seeing if it will stay around or possible use it for our "Breeze" car. It will not be called a COT though. I have a name but will not reveal it at this time.
The COT will make an excellent body for our "Breeze" Car as well as others. The Breeze car has been selling excellent lately with cost getting kinda high for the higher end cars. Excellent car for beginning that can also be upgraded for very little cost, and has what is still the best front end on the market. The Windtunnel Strut front end.
Rob @ Windtunnel Racing Products
MURDOCKRC 09-23-2009, 07:14 PM Windtunnel Wheels & Donuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are now available. That's right, Windtunnel Racing Products is on the same track as always & now has colored wheels, donuts and much more available. Many donuts are already listed with more to come in 1/10th and 1/12th. Check out our line of colored wheels as well. Now you can match your wheels with your paint scheme or "YO DADDY" Decals sets. Here are some pictures below for you to view of what is available. Black wheels are still the in stock mounted but upon special order we can mount any compound of foam on any color wheel.
Once again Windtunnel is leading the way in products EXCLUSIVE to us. Nobody else has this option on the market & it is all to save you money and bring what you want to the table:thumbsup:
MURDOCKRC 09-23-2009, 07:32 PM Just another Note to everyone. Windtunnel has the best.....most versatile entry level/upper end car on the market. The windtunnel Breeze car is a very good car to start with. It comes complete with Windtunnel sport tires, car kit, and Body for a very good price. Quit spending money on cars that cost to fix. Buy the Windtunnel "Breeze" with the Windtunnel "sport tires". Save money, replace parts at a resonable price, and have sport tires with the Windtunnel exclusive colored band. Green band for green tires, blue band for Blue tires, and Orange band for harder front tires. You will not find another car like this or tires, that are truely meant the sport racer.
katf1sh 09-23-2009, 08:37 PM very nice with the colored rims!
swtour 09-23-2009, 08:58 PM Rob,
NICE Job on the Colored Rims - I know guys asked for them a while back - awesome to actually see them!
BallisticBill 09-23-2009, 09:33 PM Just a note about the rough cut foam donuts that Rob mentioned above. This is the same rubber we use on our built tires but we are offering the donuts for sale for guys who wish to build their own tires and save some money in these somewhat difficult economic times.
We have also re labeled our natural foam that was in the Pink and Purple category.
Our new tire and foam guide can be seen here:
http://members.willinet.net/bmurdock/MURDOCKRC/TIRE_GUIDE_2_.html
We are also listing the shore rating of the rubber. Our new tire dots will show the color description and the shore rating.
The rough cut foam donuts will have dots in the package to place on your rims.
Platinum is 25 and 28 shore
Pinks are 30 thru 38 shore
Purples are 40 thru 50 shore.
You will also notice that we have two front foams that are seamless. Our Pink 3-SL and Purple 1-SL. These have no middle seam.
And watch for our new Plum foam which should be arriving shortly.
Mr.Wolfman 09-24-2009, 06:59 PM WOW look at the rainbow...?
Rob ,,,I did not know that you were a Gordon "rainbow warrior" JUST IN FUN BUDDY
I know that these will make some Concours winning rides.and still kick it on the track
LARCGuy 09-25-2009, 04:00 AM For just a second, at first glance, I thought the TC dish wheels were for pan cars. That would be pretty neat. Nice colored wheels.
hobbyten 09-26-2009, 02:13 PM my order showed up today as promised thanks windtunnel for the great work you do. big al in mich.
Wanted to say I tried some Jacos and when the foam strated peeling back a qurter inche back on the RR it was clear to me I needed to go back to Robs foams I have never had these peel back like that I nick them up when they get below 2 in but still have plenty of life left and plenty of traction.
Jake
MURDOCKRC 09-26-2009, 11:05 PM Windtunnel Tires are faster hands down. They have been tested by some of the best in the country including myself. CA methods being used by other makers is NOT the way to go. Then you mix in the design and blend used in our wheels and you have a winning combination.
Rob @ Windtunnel
J-Dub Racing 09-27-2009, 11:19 AM Rob or Bill
Will the foams you sell fit on say a BSR rim? Also do you have the tire horn (I think kimbrough use to sell it) to slide the foam on the rim?
Thank you for the info, and keep up the good work.
Joel White
MURDOCKRC 09-27-2009, 11:25 AM Yes, our donuts will fit the large BSR rims if you choose. Tires horns should be here this week. Look for them to hit the site soon

MURDOCKRC 09-29-2009, 08:19 PM "Jack" is gone, gone, gone. That stuff sat here for a while and as soon as I made the post it left the building in a hurry. Not sure why it was not noticed. I should have more this week though:dude:
ovalguy1 09-30-2009, 07:59 AM Hey Rob wanted to let you know. We practiced on the rug this weekend. (13.5 COT) The track was really slick being it sat all summer long. We were having trouble with the cars drifting sideways. I put barrel springs on the front and rear and rear of the car. It worked awesome... I was able to lay the power down with out drifting sideways. Only word I can think of is wow....
