I've been reading these forums for the last 6 month about this 1 cell racing, and have been told that I need a smart boost or receiver pack. Now Novak has out the Havoc. My question to anybody, Here is a listing of my electronics on the car, can I run 3.7V with my current set-up or do I need to upgrade? Motor 13.5Novak SS, GTB Spread Spektrum, Futaba Fasst System receiver, and Futaba 9650 servo. I've heard that some guys in the Iowa area have been running 1c w/o any boosters or receiver packs and not having problems. Would somebody please let me know if this set-up will work. It's not that I don't want to buy a new speedcontroller, but if I already have the equipment except battery that would allow me to buy other much needed equipment. Thanks for the information. Jason

I run novak 13.5 motor, SMC 1c lipo, PT, 9550 servo, GTB(4c version) on small to medium size asphault and have ran without one with no issues. I do have a losi micro-t lipo pack on the car that I can use as a receiver pack if needed.

I would say run the car w/o one and if you notice a drop in speed before the race is over you may need booster or receiver pack.

hey jason i talked to hays the other day and asked him the same question since im gonna have my boyzz run 1c 13.5 this year and he said that he ran his without one but it would be a safer bet to get the booster from novak as opposed to the receiver pack, that way i dont need to charge it (less wrenchen haha). But i agree with rcgen try it without en see how it goes.

Jason - I have run 1s in my 1/12 acale onroad car and I use the TQ booster, feels just like it did with a 4 cell. I tried it without and the servo felt a little sluggish after the peak was off the battery. When I ordered mine I got a few extra - didn't make sense to order just one $5 item and pay $3 shipping (from Hong Kong no less). I'll make sure I have one in my pit box if you want one.

Your steering will be slow without one

Any body have any problems with transponder signal strength if they didn't run a booster or Rx pack with 1s LiPo?
