View Full Version : Chariot Canopy Fit Question

Before starting to paint my canopy, I was testing the fit to the body so any adjustments could be made before I painted it.

When I sit the canopy in place starting at the front, at the rear its as if the body is a bit short or canopy a bit long as its sitting up (images below). The front and rear are seated correctly on the body, which isn't warped so I am not sure why its not sitting well.

I was just curious if anyone else had this and what they did to fix.

I am thinking I will sand the top of the rear of the body a bit at a time to get it to sit flush.

It appears if I sand the top of the back it should sit flush then.

Open to opinions and suggestions.

Hi DL,

I had the same problem. After a little investigation, I discovered it was just a little warpage of the Canopy. Take a close look and you'll notice that the center panes between the doors are a bit out of place in the forward direction.

As well as I remember, all I had to do was start at the front and glue the Canopy to the tub a little at a time. The center panes adjusted right into place and the rear was just fraction of a millimeter off. I lightly clamped the Canopy to the tub at the rear to close the gap and used Testors Clear Parts Cement to fill the few tiny gaps that remained and a little touch-up paint after the glue was dried.

Unless you know where to look, there aren't any gaps ...

MIne fits ok after a few swipes with a sanding stick..I gotta tell ya, the canopy is beautiful. very nice molding...The guy who reviewed it for fine scale modeler didn't like the way future lookd on it...But I'm not worried, I can't wait to finish this one.
