View Full Version : The best ever ....
bobjeffreson 08-17-2009, 08:32 PM Not sure if I posted this photo previously...anyway I think it's worth another look a the best 1/4 scale sprintcar ever built in Australia. The builder Mark Davis from Queensland, hauled the car 12 hours down to Sydney last weekend... so we could all drool and he could race at LQSS. He told us he is well on the way to finishing a better car than this, for his 15 year old son......

stivy 08-18-2009, 02:34 PM Looking at this car makes me want one. What chassis is this car? How many parts are aftermarket and how many parts are home made? This car is the best I've seen. Very nice!
IN2RACIN 08-18-2009, 03:00 PM It is sweet..........."Kinda" looks like the Belfab sprinter
MSadler 08-18-2009, 05:54 PM And tell us anything you know about the rear suspension on the car..and why no springs?
Looks like this car has actual torsion suspension all the way around just like the real thing! Thumbs way up for this car!
Sonny B 08-18-2009, 07:24 PM Man I hope you guys give extra points for scale appearance. That thing rocks.

Wings are all aluminium...top would be 15 x 15 inches max with 9 inch max high side plate on left side. Front wings would be 9 inches x 6inches max with 2 inch max high sideplates

Chassis is built in Queensland, Australia by Brian Williams..aka Hi-Line Chassis'.
Runs a Skellenger QC and front axle set-up. All other running gear componentry is basically made by Mark, including tail tank and all body panels..he has sold some of these to the USA already.

Car is sprung with 4 torsion bars as a real sprinter...most Australian made 1/4 sprintcars are built this way. Although my latest car From BULLET Racecars has torsion bar rear and coilover fronts, just to try something different.
Thanks for the positive comments and your interest....Mark will enjoy it also.

stivy 08-18-2009, 08:22 PM What kind of cost would somebody expect for one of these cars?

I shudder to think what Mark Davis spent on this car. It has the best of the best. He doesn't build complete cars commercially, so I'm not sure it's even a possibility.
Best thing would be to PM him through the LQSS site.....

This sprintcar should be under glass, in a museum somewhere. One cannot see all the fine detail in these photos.
Briguy 08-19-2009, 02:05 PM That is sweet !! If something of that caliber were available in the U.S. I`d have to have one .
