I'm in need of brown paint. Without transportation going shopping isnt in the cards. I have some red auto primer in a can Can I thin that down and spray without getting the gritty look, or hurting the gun?

If your talking about decanting and shooting through an air brush, you sure can I do it all the time. Try nail polish sometime, lots of cool colors and pretty reasonable in price.

I found it in Pats removing paint from a can post. If it works with grey primer it should work with red. Think I'll darken it with a little black.
Is nail polish easy to clean up?

I just use laquer thinner to dilute and clean!

Where yat Bob,
That aerosol Painters Place Grey Primer in my "Using Aerosol Paints In Your AirBrush" Tutorial is thinned with Paint Thinner.
Once thinned and shot through my AirBrush it lays down smooth and almost glossy.
I never use the Red Primer so I don't know how it would perform after thinned.
Just don't know if it is grainy or not.

If you're using Lacquer Primer like Duplicolor then it's okay to thin it with Lacquer Thinner.

It's a good idea to have at least a quart of Lacquer Thinner around for flushing and cleaning your new AirBrush and its parts.
I go through a gallon every month so I purchase it by the gallon.

I flush my gun before I fill the cup with paint to "grease" the surfaces the paint travels through.
This makes it easier to flush when through painting.
