My model was painted with enamels (Testors) for the primer, base and candy. I want to paint it with a clear coat, but I've only found lacquer clears, even by Testors (Glosscote).
What do I do?

Testors does sell clear flat and clear gloss in tall bottles that are lacquers for airbrushing. Those are safe over the enamels too beucase they dry basically instantly. The only Testors paint to avoid is "Wet Look Clear" in their "Custom Auto Lacquer" line... those are synthetic lacquers and will damage enamel paints. Jhawk19 08-16-2009, 01:42 PM Cool. Thank you. I did find a High Gloss Clearcoat (2936) by Testors. It says Enamel Top Coat on the can. I am thinking about spraying my Moebius Iron Man with it. Comments...Suggestions... dklange 08-17-2009, 08:40 AM I always use the Testors Model Masters Lusterless (Flat) clear coat on all my models. I paint with Tamiya acrylics and Model Master enamels. It works great over both of them. I've never used the Gloss but have used the semi-gloss with excellent results. It gives a great final look! Hope this is helpful. djnick66 08-17-2009, 09:56 AM Those work ok. I use them quite often. The High Gloss Clear Coat is one of their car finish sprays. It gives a deeper gloss but also dries very slowly (it can be tacky/gooey) a while. Be careful too as it can yellow with time (most noticable if you paint something white). You can also dip, brush, or airbrush parts with Pledge With Future Shine. That is an excellent, high gloss clear. If you don't like it, Windex will strip it off... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
