View Full Version : Aaaagghh! A vent thread...
bob8748 08-15-2009, 12:21 PM Bending my exhaust. Drilled the holes, test fit, bend here. Perfect... but backwards? Would look good on the other side of the car. Get another wire. Bend here and here... I made the same thing, backwards! Going for try number three. Going to stop and think it through first this time. Anyone else have an "I cant believe I just did that" moment?
camarors 08-15-2009, 12:39 PM It happens to all of us, Bob. :p:wave:

70_442 08-15-2009, 01:45 PM More than once Bob.
bob8748 08-15-2009, 03:02 PM I'm going for a straight pipe... easier,
BIGJAY 08-15-2009, 03:08 PM Oh yeah.........Had done mabee the best paint job i had ever done. Was reassembling and was using super glue. I guess i got some on my fingertip and grabbed the car about the middle and you can guess what happened next. It was bad but i count it as a learning experience...........Now i am the clean hands freek when working on a custom.
69Stang 08-15-2009, 10:23 PM This was my first attempt to clear coat over decals....I painted this car 9...that's NINE times until I had it right! I went through a ton of decals!
I was trying to use a hardware store rattle can top coat and it was just to hot for the decals. I belive it was Pat or at least someone here on the board that explained my problem. I picked up a can of hobby (Testors) clear that was less aggressive and it finally worked!

jingles 08-15-2009, 11:32 PM my last one was I put the lawn mower blade on upside down.
grayhouse 08-16-2009, 12:57 AM I did the exact same thing when I was doing headers for my 55. First they kept falling apart over and over and over. Than I finaly got two perfect headers, but they were two perfect right headers. At that point I slowly stood, backed away from the table and yelled out
"WHY DOESN"T SOMEBODY STOP ME!"
But since there was nobody there to stop me I quietly sat back down for another two hours untill I got the damn thing right and ended up going to bed with one of the worst migraines I ever had. Now whenever I get to that point, and I have many, many times I forcebly stop myself and take a break.

I've done that with a chain saw. Didnt cut very well.
Variation_Jason 08-17-2009, 08:21 AM I think we all catch ourselves in the middle of brainless moments, but as long as you can admit it and laugh you doing ok. Well... that and a glass of alcohol doesn't hurt either, lol.
roadrner 08-18-2009, 09:44 AM I'm sure there's not a one of us on any of these forums that hasn't done someting in a similar vein. One of my screwups involve masking the body for a multiple color paint job backwards. When I was finished taking my time, getting all of the masking down just right, I realized I masked the wrong part of the car for the color I'm shooting. And it was such a clean masking job. :freak: oh well! rr
