Rick forgot to mention, at least I guess he forgot, that in the main the lap record was taken up to a 109. Great racing.

It was definitely a great night of racing.

I'd like to come down and race my pan car. What compound foams do I need? Is this run what you bring or do you have class rules. Motor-batteries-body??

sam pan car class is run what you brung, with only 1 rule 4 cell battery pack or 1 cell lipo. far as the tires foams seem to hook better. seen guys run everything from pinks and purple to white. got to find right set up for your car.

forgot to mention they are running nascar bodys!

A good class structure makes racing fun for me. The wild wild west thing is ok for some but when it deteriorates into a motor/battery of the week deal then you lose racers. How many people really want to run in a class where you can't compete if you don't spend $100 a week on the latest equipment? A few may like that but I suspect most would like to buy in once and know that with a little maintenance spending you can stay competitive.

Look at full scale motorsports. There is not a major form of racing out there that doesn't try to equalize the competition and minimize costs.

I support the idea of having a "stock" class that has rules that are truly enforced. It gives the beginner a solid place to start. It gives the intermediate to advanced guys a class to run that is not a moving target.

For the guys who want to go all out you have the modified class. As far as the laps qualifier... that's tough. I'd rather see a good race director and other guys at the track helping racers make the proper class decisions for all involved. That can be done with tactful suggestions or with enough racers in the class you can arrange the heats by typical performance.

I think keeping the rules simple is best. Specify the motor, battery, chassis and body. Leave out the weight, ride height, gearing and so forth.

The classes I would like to see for myself are:

Legends - Spec Motor, 4-cell 1600 Spec Pack or SMC 3.7v 25C 4000 Lipo

Nascar Stock - 3.7v Lipo, 17.5 or 13.5 brushless, 27T brushed, Nascar body (maybe even COT body)

Nascar Modified - 3.7v Lipo, Nascar body

Vintage - VTA rules posted at http://www.usvintagetransam.com EXCEPT no gearing rule, no manufacturer rule on the motor and any pre-1980 body allowed.

I think a 10.5 is too much for a stock pan car class that wants to be accessible to new pan car racers. The 17.5 would be my preference because the class in Lexington uses the same motor. They should turn near 100 laps on a good run but won't be as hard on the equipment or the drivers. If there are others that want to run the classes like that make sure to mention it to David. NOW is the time to set the pan car rules before everyody buys in. I know he's open to whatever. If anyone wants to get into pan cars I'll be happy to help you with basic tuning whenever I'm there.

I can kind of see where you're comming from. We run a stock/spec class and during the heats it can be frustrating when you run with someone that is slower and all over the place. That is what reshuffling during the heats will do, put the faster ones together and the slower ones together.
Even though, when you have to drive around slower cars, it forces you to be a better driver.

The 105 lap thing just struck me as not being very friendly. If I stopped at a track to race and it said that I would have to do XXX laps to run, I would proability just keep on going.

Second If This Rule Sticks This Means You Yourself Cant Race Mod Until You Make The 105 Lap's. Bottom Line Is The Way Your Trying To Do It Its Going To Run Off The Ones That Have Made The Track What It Is. You Just Cant Change Horse's In The Middle Of The Stream!
