Mike D. 09-16-2009, 11:13 PM So here's the next question. Will "team" guys be allowed to run the "legal" packs prior to them being available to the rest of us?
I have to say you guys are really providing fuel for all the doubters on here. I know I'm feeling kind of dumb at the moment for sticking up for this whole TOUR deal.
well im a newbie just starting this year with pancar.... and....wow...how confusing!!
Porksalot4L 09-17-2009, 12:27 AM well im a newbie just starting this year with pancar.... and....wow...how confusing!!
its really not to bad compared to the past. you just have to get to the track and find out what your buddies race. you will be fine
WLMaye 09-17-2009, 07:40 AM does anyone know of anything that was "perfect" the 1st year?
steve i hope you and your dad are doing better and i would take a break from the boards for awhile...let someone like allan deal and field questions for the tour series until your life takes a better path...i told ya you were crazy.....he he
Actually... Van Halen's debute album was.
GO TOUR!!!!!
Bill

Speaking as one who was a 'newbie" 5 years ago... that's the way all newbie's are until you get a year or two under your belt. You'll be alright.
...If I had all of the money back that I spent on the wrong stuff... :freak:

Allan A 09-17-2009, 08:54 AM I have a question regarding the World GT Tires. The rules state the tire must have a "purple ring" in the center. Does this mean only BSR and CRC World GT Tires will be allowed? What about Jaco and T.M.? I believe the Jaco tires are solid black and the T.M. tires have a gray or white ring in the center.
Please let me know.
Josh
• World GT Tires were selected as the spec tire for this class for several reasons:
o They are readily available due to their wide acceptance in the on-road racing community and have proven to be a very well regulated, cost effective, solution.
o These tires are NOT available to team drivers through sponsorships. All sales of these tires go through hobby shops.
o All 4 tires are all made of the same, very durable compound and are priced below standard tires.
o World GT Tires are to meet the following specifications:
• Tire and wheel must meet 10th scale specifications
• Tire compound to be Japanese R4 compound, 38 shore
• Tire must have an identifier ring of purple colored foam in the center of the tire
o There is no “approval process” for World GT tires. Any tire meeting the above criteria will be considered legal.

The Jaco does not have a purple ring on it. The wheel is a Carbon fiber print and can not be bought other than on WGT Tires. Also if you try to dismount the tire and use a different foam the carbon fiber paint comes right off.

BoneSpec 09-19-2009, 04:27 AM So what is the approved BSR tire for 17.5 Nastruck????
Team Purples????
What bodies are approved??? I have and old F150 body I painted but yet to mount. No idea on the maker.

Rules say World GT tires... this is BSR, CRC, Jaco.
Body is NASTRUCK so I would think the F150 body would work. They didn't specify body type or manufacturer.
quote from the rules "It features any 10th scale pan car with a NASTRUCK body, World GT spec tire, 17.5 motor with a single cell 25C Li-Po battery."
Hope this helps.

Allan A 09-19-2009, 08:14 AM Thanks Bill, Bone spec, all the Sportsman rules are listed on the first post.

YEP, WHAT HE SAID..LOL
bossman357 09-24-2009, 08:22 PM are they spec tires or world gt tires
bossman357 09-24-2009, 08:28 PM i vote for spec tirs for the 17.5 class
cutter1 09-24-2009, 08:56 PM I believe spec tires and world gt tires are not the same, all 4 tires are the same compound IE Jaco lilac
bossman357 09-24-2009, 09:11 PM no they are not the same compounds . for jaco or bsr
BoneSpec 09-24-2009, 09:26 PM Basically, our local racers must spend atleast $100 before even getting started to race.
I know of a few who are thinking of quiting.
Kevin Koback 09-24-2009, 09:49 PM The Jaco World GT tires (lilac) and the BSR World GT tires (team purple) are the same compound. The Jaco's have a different color wheel(carbon fiber look), and the BSR's have a stripe in the tire(different color than the BSR SPEC tire).
It is worth the investment to change over. These compounds last soooo much longer it's crazy. If you wear .010"=.020" off in a FULL RACE DAY, that is all you will see. The SPEC compounds (green, blue, silver) could wear this much in 1 race. Also, pricing is similar to the SPEC tires, not the regular race tires.
Kevin Cole 09-24-2009, 10:03 PM Wow...how could you guys not get this. You're making a simple tires rules way too hard on yourselves.
It's World GT Spec...not just "Spec".
Four manufacturers make them...all the same compound & shore.A couple do not have a purple ring...but they are the same as the ones who do.
ALL FOUR TIRES MUST BE FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER!
(But there is four manufacturers to choose from)
Inferno's info on the previous page is wrong for National Tour rules...and that just confused everyone.

im anewbie to all this and am just stating what i hear, are all these people new that are asking questions??? i just listed the tires i have fronts i have bsr f1001-spec and rears f1004-spec, those are the ones im useing, they have a yellow stripe around them
Kevin Cole 09-24-2009, 10:20 PM No problem inferno...but I'd maybe ask before assuming it true.
The spec tires you have are usually used in the Legends class and are much different that World GT.
The rules are new to all of us...so no big deal.I would just be careful throwing out answers that are not right because it only adds to the confusion and might scare away new racers.
You're cool with me inferno:thumbsup:..and you'll get this stuff all down:cool:
cutter1 09-24-2009, 10:26 PM no they are not the same compounds . for jaco or bsr
WRONG!!!!!!

lol.... mr casey said these were the ones i needed for the nastruck class, i do have a legend, but have plenty of tires.
Allan A 09-24-2009, 11:25 PM At this time BSR and CRC are the only companys putting the purple ring in their World GT Tire. I understand that TM is looking into doing the same. For TOUR events the rule is World GT Tires with the proper foam with a purple ring. These tires are less expensive than other tires and last a lot longer.
bossman357 09-25-2009, 08:08 AM then you going to see guy run 4cell stock .then 17.5 1cell lipo class because of the tire rule. tour 17.5 should avor spec tire.
brian0525 09-25-2009, 09:44 AM then you going to see guy run 4cell stock .then 17.5 1cell lipo class because of the tire rule. tour 17.5 should avor spec tire.
huh????

What you don't understand is the world GT tire is a "spec" tire. Everyone has to run the same thing, that is the definition for "spec". Honestly the World GT tires are more "spec" than the spec tires you are running. World GT tires are all "purple-ish" compound with your so called "spec" tires there is a choice of compounds making it harder on a new person. In addition like Kevin said they will be cheaper, as they don't wear down nearly as bad.
Before you go all crazy and think that this wont work. Go and spend $33 bucks at Lefthander, or your local hobby shop, or Give Allan at Greeneville RC a call, and they can hook you up with this World GT tires that you need. I will even provide a link for you...

Or like I said give Allan a call at Greeneville and he can set you up.

These tires are like Brushless, and Lipo. Once you give in a try them you will realize they were way better than what you were using. Especially for a budget/beginner "SPEC" class.

Porksalot4L 09-25-2009, 11:05 AM Bossman i know you are hearing from guys at the track that it is harder to get the tires right now. but i have just found out that it is not very hard to get them. Pm me if you need help finding these tires! ill point you in the right direction.

bud3738 09-25-2009, 10:02 PM Well, I hope Tony at T.M. keeps us all informed. I just purchased and opened a set of "new" T.M. World GT Tires, that are not even legal. Hmmmm. Money down the drain? Maybe Tony will let me exchange them.
Ever changing rules are killing oval racing.

I was looking over the rules....I am assuming you can use a tekin 13.5 for COT.....

so im stickin with it!!!!! and hope all the newbies will too!!!!! alot of guys willing to help!!!!!, mike, one more thing, as a newbie i will be going to the snowbirds in january, i may make a fool out of myself, but cant wait to meet some of the guys that have helped me get into pancar!!!!! mike

Allan A 09-25-2009, 10:28 PM I tell you what Josh, I understand that taking time to read the rules before you make your purchase can be frustrating.
But I tell you what I will do. You ship me your one set of TM tires that you just bought and have not run. And I will ship you a set of new legal tires. All it will cost you is shipping both ways.
