J Blaze 08-13-2009, 05:16 PM we do at BFG michigan! so far sc doesnt have anything on the slash! set of goosebumps evens the field. Jerzferno 08-25-2009, 06:57 AM So in a spec class, the Slash is still on top? Goose bumps on the SC10 makes it even? Is that with stock tires on the Slash, or Goose bumps on the Slash too? Interesting to hear your report. Thanks! crashmaster 08-26-2009, 12:24 AM spec slash at bfg runs only box stock or brushless 17.5 systems tires and shocks have to stay the same crashmaster 08-26-2009, 12:26 AM but if you get a stock slash with a 20 tooth pinion and with a 30c or higher it will compet with a 13.5 slash Justme2 08-27-2009, 08:51 PM We have a Spec Slash class that is growing so fast there are more entries then 2 wheel stock. Check out Traxxas website for the Spec rules used at the TORC races around the country. We folow these rules pretty close except we are allowed to change the tires. While there, check out the stock set up recommondations in the "Pit Stop" area. Both our trucks are dialed with this arrangement, plus a couple other tweeks. SC10 with stock tires is equal to the Slash with Proline Bowties or the JConcepts Goosebumps(better tire) as mentioned above. My son races one of these in the beginner class and finished third to an SC10 and another Slash last Saturday night. Very durable and a blast to drive! J Blaze 08-28-2009, 11:28 AM if they both have their stock tires their pritty even! Jerzferno 08-30-2009, 09:31 AM We are wondering what to do with this? We started a spec Slash class last year. It started with 4, and balooned from there. To date we nornally get 3 off road heats, and 2 oval heats each week. Weve had a total of 38 Slashes race here so far just this season. Now SC10's are showing up. We are very strict with the Slash spec rules. So anything else has to race in the mod truck class. The Slash class is the strongest and most popular class at our track. So we dont want to ruin it by opening it up to other SC trucks. Our club is not in the business of turning anyone away who shows up to race. Maybe a short course mod class is needed for next year? Kerby 08-30-2009, 07:54 PM I would assume with SC racing becoming so popular and others manufacturing SC trucks a stock SC class and Mod SC class is needed and this would include the Slash. Why is a Spec class needed? From what I've seen and read about the Slash is more than competitive with the SC10, kicks butt at my home track. Jerzferno 08-30-2009, 09:31 PM I think spec racing works because it keeps the cost down. I dont have to keep up with the next guy because he cant mod his Slash. So to me its a worry free class and the cheapest of the 4 I run. Plus its a BLAST. Anyone can win. Its the driver that wins the spec Slash class. Not the guy with the most expensive brushless system, big dollar LiPo, graphite everything, and 30 sets of tires. Yes driving is the most of it. But it doesnt hurt to have a kick butt vehicle either. Kerby 08-31-2009, 09:05 AM I totally understand, I just bought a SC10 to race SC course stock. I haven't raced in years and I forgot how expensive racing can be. Most of the Slashes where I run are upgraded, very few specs. J Blaze 08-31-2009, 05:03 PM Im spec slash only because im running a series. my thought is if you want to run a spec class run spec for all:slash,sc10 rtr, losi rtr and hpi rtr. with the stock tires! the slash can handel it. I know my spec slash will run down a 17.5! RC Racer 08-31-2009, 08:20 PM Will the stock traxxas servo that comes in the slash plug into any f m or 2.4 gig receiver? or does it only fit the traxxas receiver that comes with the slash? and is there a set of rules posted any where that a person can read or print out for the stock slash and mod slash class. Leonard 08-31-2009, 08:53 PM the servo has a standard plug that should go into almost everything. Kerby 08-31-2009, 09:19 PM The Slash is a very good truck, some people think it can't keep up with a SC10..........not the case. Read the new Car Action thay have a head to head.......Slash vs. SC10, it's 50/50. cjtamu 09-17-2009, 10:36 AM Jerzferno, our Stock CORR class here requires RTR motor, speedo, and tires. Those 3 items do two things. One, it levels the playing field pretty well. From what we've seen so far it's a pretty fair fight b/w SC10 and Slash. Two, it keeps cost down. You can come out with a RTR Slash or SC10 and compete right out of the box. Jason Branham won the Mod class running a bone stock Slash a few weeks ago. Pick any other class I race and I have more money sunk into tires than I do my whole SC10 LOL. Jerzferno 09-17-2009, 12:08 PM I hear ya cj. I spent about 40 dollars on my Slash in 2 racing seasons. 1 motor and a few spurs and pinions. I have 4 times that in tires alone for my 1/10th scale 2wd buggy. cjtamu 09-17-2009, 03:09 PM Looking forward to racing mine, cheap and simple was what I'm after. Was going to run Mod but started talking to the guys and they're running 1/8 tires on 17mm hexes, etc. I have enough PITA classes to run already so I bought the RTR speedo and motor for my kit. Build will be finished tonight, then just need a free Saturday. Jerzferno 09-17-2009, 10:01 PM If you have good support for the class, YOU WILL HAVE A BALL. We have 12 Slash's registered for oval, and 28 for off road this weekend. HandyRacing 09-18-2009, 10:46 PM I just finished the comparison of the MORL 2009 season: Check out the side by side A-Main times analysis between Slash Spec and Short Course Trusk classes here (http://blog.handyracing.com/2009/09/18/whats-faster-on-the-track-slash-or-the-new-sc-trucks.aspx): Let us know what you think? cjtamu 09-19-2009, 08:28 AM LOL. Just left a post on the AE site. Says the same thing I said above, it's a fair fight. Can't wait for the ROAR Regionals in Dec when I can run a good stocker and speedo. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
