Money Race
We wanted to do a money race, but we also wanted to give more chances for people to win. So, we’ve come up with these rules to try and make that happen…
When--- August 15th 2009
Entry fee --- $20.00 $5.00 to the money pot and 15.00 to the track
Extra Vehicles---- $5.00 $5.00 to the money pot and “NO” track fee
Where--- Medina RC Raceway
Start Time---12:00 pm
Classes----1/8 Buggy, 1/8 Truggy (both electric and nitro), 10th scale, and Slash… All classes must contain a minimum of 6 vehicles to be considered a class.
RULES
First, your heats will be very important to you the racer. All heats will be run the same as usual, and we will take your BEST, “Laps/Time” and place you in the Mains. (This is very important…remember this as you continue to read).
The Mains will ONLY consist of 6 to 8 drivers Maximum (6-- as much as possible). This will place everybody in groups with similar “Laps/ Time” (Just like setting up the Mains as we do now)
This is what is different…….. Every “Main” will then be treated as the “A-Main”. The winner of the race wins the money… Another words the “D-Main” is worth the same as the “A-Main”. If you place in the D-Main and win the D-Main----That’s it---You will win the money for that race…
Every driver in the race will be worth $5.00 ---So, if there are 6 drivers in your race. That race will be worth $30 to the winner.
*******This is the important part… This race will have a “Breakout Rule” or “Sandbag Rule”. Each driver will need to do their best during the “qualifying heats”. You will be placed in the Mains because of these times. Any driver or drivers that run 5% (which equals to about 2 to 3 seconds) faster than their fastest qualifying heat will be considered to have “Broken Out” of their group, and is ineligible to win the money in that group… That driver will then be placed in their proper group and given another chance to win the money for that new group…
For example, Bill qualifies for the D-main with an “average lap time” of 42 seconds.
Bill then wins the D-Main with an “average lap time” of 35 seconds. Does Bill win the money?
The answer is “No” Bill broke the 5% rule and Bill will be considered to have “Broken Out” of his group, or a “Sandbagger” and the money will go to the next eligible person in that group. This is to insure that each race is as fair as possible and that each person has a fair chance to win some cash…
Bill will then be placed in the 35 seconds group (where he belongs) and given the chance to win in that group.
All of this will result in people having a 1 and 6 chance of winning the money, and you will only be racing people with similar “Laps/Times” increasing your chances of winning… And if we have 10 Mains…Then we will have 10 money winners. Remembering, the intent of this format is to give more opportunities for racers to win some money.
