I know I said earlier I wouldn't be posting any polls but I've got an issue where I could use some feedback from the people who make the BRL what it is, the racers.

I've been having discussions with Buddy Paul of Victory R/C Hobbies and Raceway in Green Bay, WI regarding the second race of the upcoming BRL season. Victory was a part of the series during its first two years and a strong supporter of the Series. Our racers have always enjoyed the track. Buddy is proposing some Friday night dirt oval action to start off the weekend and then the normal BRL show on Saturday / Sunday. Sounds like it should be a blast.

We're trying for a November date but all the available dates involve some drawbacks. Here are the options we have. Keep in mind that Ovalmasters is the first weekend in November, the 7th and 8th.

Option A - Weekend of November 21/22 - This fits nicely in between the Ovalmasters and the December 12/13 date for the BRL in Omaha. The problem is the Packers are home that weekend. Hotels in Green Bay will be expensive as a result. Buddy has confirmed rooms will be available at reasonable prices in Appleton which is about 20 miles more or less South of Victory. So the drawback with this date is a longer drive in the morning and evening on race days. (By the way, the weekend of Nov 14/15 has the same problem with the Packers plus its the weekend right after the Ovalmasters.)

Option B - Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 28/29) - There should be no problem with room availability that weekend but some folks may have holiday plans which don't include R/C racing. On the other hand, many people will already have Friday off from work so it could preserve a vacation day for use at another time.

Buddy and I decided it'd be best to get feedback from the racers before deciding. So vote in the poll and let us know which weekend would be best for you.

I voted for the weekend prior to Thanksgiving only because they've done a weekend race at the Triclone on Thanksgiving for a few years with decent attendance. It'd be nice not to kill that.

If you try to stay in the Green Bay Area, avoid the Motel 6. Hay's Sr :wave:...seriously ticked off one of the local women there a few years back and she made a big scene trying to find him! :freak:

Went with the earlier weekend because of the race at Triclone and i can't get out of work because everyone else is deer hunting that weekend

As long as we can get in to the hotel that was down the road from the track. it was'nt like the bates in vinton.

Just wanted to let folks know I'm going to continue the Poll over the weekend and then make a decision together with Buddy Paul on Monday. Right now it's 4 to 1 to hold the race the weekend before Thanksgiving and deal with the inconvenience of a drive to / from Appleton for hotel rooms.

Alright, the votes are in and the tally is completed. By a margin of more than 2.5 to 1 the racers have indicated they'd prefer the weekend of November 21 and 22 for Race 2 of the 2009-2010 John's BSR Tires BRL Oval Series at Victory R/C Hobbies.

Thanks to all who voted. With this settled, the 2009-2010 Series schedule is complete. The BRL schedule thread is updated to indicate this change.
