The Gamma was the last real Lancia, before they became Fiats in a fancy dress. The Gamma was introduced in 1976 & had quite a long production life until 1984. However, it must be said that it wasn't the most successful of sellers - only 15,000 saloons & just under 7,000 coupes were built.
Don't let the shape fool you, it wasn't a hatchback - it had a conventional bootlid. The car was front wheel drive & had a 2.5 litre flat four engine - a 2.0 version was available in Italy due to tax regulations (for the same reason, the Ferrari 308 could be had with a 2.0 engine as well, as the 208). The Gamma would have competed with cars like the W123 Mercedes or E12 BMW 5-series - although the Audi 100 (C2) & Citroen CX were probably better comparisons.
The model is by Norev for Hatchette's "Lancia Story" magazine partwork - it is a much better effort than their coupe from the same series - the casting is crisper & the lights & general detailing superior (a shame as the Gamma coupe is one of Pininfarina's best). I have to say though, Norev must have bought a hell of a lot of silver paint, as the Gamma Coupe, Prisma & Trevi are all also this colour......

I've been waiting a long time for a good model of this car & I pleased with the result - not greatest model in the world, but, reasonably cheap.
Cheers,
Steve
