View Full Version : 2009-2010 BRL Oval Series Schedule
BIGCHUCK 08-09-2009, 10:33 PM I’m pleased to announce that John’s BSR Tires will return as the title sponsor for the 2009-2010 John’s BSR Tires Brushless Racing League Oval Series. I’m sure all our racers join me in thanking John for his support of our series and R/C racing in general.
Now, for the 2009-2010 schedule. I promised I'd get it up this week so I'm posting it even though there is one unresolved date. I should have this settled within a few more days. But I wanted to get this posted so racers could begin planning for the season.
This season we will have 6 events with a racer’s best 4 events determining his overall points position.
October 17/18 – Tri-State Hobbies, Fairfield, OH (Cincinnati)
November 21/22- Victory R/C Hobbies and Speedway, Green Bay, WI
December 12/13 – Hobbytown Hobbyplex, Omaha, NE
January 9/10 – Summit Raceway, Fort Wayne, IN
February 20/21 – IROAR Raceway, Vinton, IA
March 12/13/14 – S&N Trackside Hobbies, Brookfield, WI
(BRL National Finals and a TOUR event)
We will be finalizing our complete rules package and adding sponsors over the next 30 days.
Now in its 4th season, the BRL has always provided some of the most competitive oval racing in the country. With a new complement of single cell Lipo classes, the return of the popular 21.5/ 2S class and competition at some of the Midwest’s finest R/C facilities, the 2009-2010 season promises to be the best ever.
See ya at the races...

JOHNNYTANLINE 08-10-2009, 09:49 PM Chuck,
Thanks for the schedule & Thank-You for all your efforts in stepping into Sonny's spot to
head things up. I'm sure it's more time & work than I'll ever know for our hobby.
The BRL represents everything I love about our hobby, competition, fair-play, friendships,
& travel. I mean this stuff is really FUN!!! 2006 saw 7-races, and I was fortunate enough to make them all. 2007 grew to 9-races, but for that series, Sonny added a points change to try to lessen the financial burden of making every race. It was the
the best of 4-races, but not out of all 9, instead it was taking your best 3 of your FIRST
5, plus the finals (4-total). By taking the best 3 of the FIRST 5, it took away the advantage a racer may gain by racing in all of the series races, compared to the guy
who had to miss a race or two. . . .
This year, how about best 3 of the FIRST 4, plus the final. (4-races total). This would
leave one race, "expendable", a welcome thought in todays tough financial times.
Distances, and costs, make it difficult for everyone to "make-em-all"
3 of the FIRST 4, plus the final, make just one expendable.
Just a thought. . . .
Sparky

RCThunder 08-10-2009, 11:41 PM Looks great Chuck. BRL is going to have another outstanding year of carpet racing coming up.
BIGCHUCK 08-11-2009, 11:10 AM Sparky,
I think we're on the same page on the points thing, I just didn't explain it well enough.
The intent is that 4 races of the total of 6 will count towards a racer's final points position. Some racers won't make the Finals for various reasons but should still be given the opportunity to score points in 4 races towards their season total. As a practical matter, since the finals will still award more points than the other races (to create an incentive to run the finals plus try to avoid having the championship locked up too early), for most racers it will be 3 of the first 5 plus the Finals. This gives 2 expendable races (or put another way 1/3 of the total races). I think that's what you were looking for.
Eric, I'll give you a call. It will more than likely be next week. It's funny but I bugged Sonny for a date for Fastlane for the BRL for 3 years. Now it's up to me and I'd really rather have the November race somewhere other than Fastlane for a number of reasons.
I've got some discussions underway but it would be premature to indicate who they're with until they're resolved.

Not just you. That site was more or less abandoned by Sonny. Try www.brushlessracingleague.com
It isn't up to date with info for this season yet. But I finish up the day job at the end of August and it will get updated then.
Oops, I just tried it and I see the navigation buttons which should be on the left side aren't working. I'll try to get that fixed today. In any event, this will be the web address for the BRL going forward.

Alien ArtWerX 08-13-2009, 10:56 PM Hey guys, if I could take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Ken Feather, and my business partner Doug Filo and I have just recently negotiated a deal to buy Tri-state Hobbies from Mr. Foister. Doug and I are very excited about this, and if anyone has any ideas or comments, please feel free to pm me here, or e-mail me at f0urtimechamp24@aol.com One thing I can say is that we are looking into the purchasing of new carpet. If we are able to do this, it will be laid down as soon as possable. I look forward to meeting all of you at the BRL.

OK, Did some research on the BRL Site. It works with IE but it is all screwed up if you view it through Fire Fox. I haven't tried Safari yet. I will check that one out tonight.

kbeller 08-21-2009, 09:20 AM o.k it looks good but now what about the weight rules?
CBear3 08-21-2009, 09:45 AM o.k it looks good but now what about the weight rules?
I believe its 36 oz. for 1 cell, 38 for 2 cell.
jake86 08-25-2009, 01:47 PM I say we go with 38 oz in every class.
BIGCHUCK 08-25-2009, 02:49 PM After going as far as opening up motors and batteries to adapt to the new TOUR rules, I don't see a particularly strong reason to set different weight limits than used in those rules. So minimum weight will be 36 oz in all 1 cell classes and 38 oz in 21.5 / 2S.
jimmy24 08-25-2009, 04:40 PM
