After taking so long on this kit, I finally finished it. I messed up the masking and the touch-up painting, but it was my first try at masking. I will know better next time. I wanted the buildup to be reminiscent of the old Aurora kits, and decided to use the leftover Superman I-Beams I had. His blasting through the wall is not as dynamic looking as Superman's pose, but I like it anyway.

I think the gold paint looks better in person, because of course most of us do not have microscopic vision to zoom in on the little details. I used a spray can, but then added touchup and highlights to the gold areas with a gold craft paint, because it made it look more 'gold' to me. I also touched up the red paint where my masking was poorly done, and then added a couple of slightly different shades of red as a shadowing/detail look to it. I sprayed a clear gloss over the whole figure when I finished my touchups so he would look shiny. He's probably a little too shiney, but I like the overall look of the kit anyway.

The closeups of the right leg and the hip (front and rear) area just to show the putty work I did to repose the leg without doing any cutting.

Looks great! Like the base you came up with. Someday I'll have to post my photos, if I can figure out how to do that!

Great job Bruce!

I installed my LEDs Thursday and did the preliminary assembly work.

I just finished all of the sanding, putty, and primer work today.

Starting with Gold tomorrow.

At HobbyTalk, to post a picture in a thread when you don't have a webpage to store your pictures, just do this:

1. Have the picture on your computer ready to upload - maybe 20-50KB, not too wide or tall maybe 5x7 inches, although here, my I.E. resizes the pictures for me to a reasonable viewing size regardless of their 'real' size.
Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpeg jpg pdf png psd rm txt xls zip

2. If you don't know how to resize your pictures, download a free copy of IrfanView which is very easy to use, and edit/resize your pictures with that.

3. Create a new thread or post a reply. When the window for posting comes up, scroll down below the 'Submit Reply'/'Preview Post' buttons and there is a spot to 'Attach Files' and a button to 'Manage Attachments'. Click on the 'Manage Attachments' button, browse your computer for the location of up to 5 files (one at a time), and 'Upload'.

4. When it finishes, submit your post/reply and the pictures should show up.

There are size limits to how big a picture file can be, and an overall limit to how much all your pictures can take up at HobbyTalk. This includes ALL your posts, not just the current post. If you reach the limit of too much space in total, go to the top of the page for 'Quick Links', and select 'User Control Panel' and there is an option there to show all your existing posted pictures and let you delete whichever ones you want.

Thanks for the compliments! :) I think he turned out very nicely, even with my painting mishaps. :freak: I normally want to build kits 'as is', but in this case I really wanted to give him a different pose and a different base.

I love the kit and hope I can afford another to do as the Mark II, since that way I can build a stock version and still have two different versions of Iron Man!:woohoo:
