All I have to do now is figure out how to get the diecast motor and pipes on the slotcar. Any tips on getting the hood off of the slotcar?

Depending on the angle of attack, you could also X-Acto them off. You are looking for the melty spots under the hood if you don't know where to look - just remove the melty bits and the hood should come off easy (maybe with a little fingernail persuasion if needed). videojimmy 08-07-2009, 10:14 AM Hot knife and dremel.... a perfect pair. hojoe 08-12-2009, 03:11 PM First off, thanks for the tips. This was one of the easiest conversions I've ever done. I used the exacto blade shown below to slide under the melt marks and the hood came right off. Of coarse I had to drill out the diecast to get it apart. A little paint in the hood area, slide the motor in and glue on the side pipes and it's ready to run. As an added feature the weight from the motor really keeps it in the slot. hojoe slotcarman12078 08-12-2009, 03:14 PM Dang, that came out nice!!! Great job!!:thumbsup: resinmonger 08-12-2009, 03:44 PM Sir, we at SFTPOCTDCC (Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Die Cast Cars) must express our outrage and the treatment of the die cast vehicle in this thread! We are simply agast at the treatment! The poor thing must have suffered untold trauma! Why won't the Government stop this madness? We have ten letters in our acronym! I bet you're one of those coconut clapping guys that thinks he was turned into a newt and then given some sort of high title from some farcical aquatic ceremony....... right? Go and cut down a tree with a herring.... Have at you! tjd241 08-12-2009, 04:59 PM The poor thing must have suffered untold trauma! ... don't forget ta rip the wheels off that pot-metal chassis and pop the glass out, because ya never know when they could come in handy on another custom. Then just to seal the deal... take the body outside and run it over with yer car!! ParkRNDL 08-12-2009, 06:29 PM WOW. that came out great. the look is perfect for that car. i might have to do that with one of my Road Runners... --rick resinmonger 08-12-2009, 06:48 PM I am offended by your mock offense sir! Go and cut down a tree with a herring.... Have at you! In fact, the witch down the road did turn me into a newt. How did you know? I got better. I turned into a Hutt - much larger than a newt and more slimey too boot! My neighbor, Mr. D. L. Gumby, prefers to have Hutts for neighbors. He has a piece of brain in his head. It is easier to cut the tree down if the herring is pickled. Or, maybe it is easier if you are pickled! I forget. BTW, I accept no titles from watery tarts kitted up as some sort of Spanish Inquisition. Newcastle United beat Wolverhampton 3-1! Let's have a go at a few laps around Snetterton, old bean. Well, off to watch the penguin on the telly... resinmonger 08-12-2009, 06:50 PM ... don't forget ta rip the wheels off that pot-metal chassis and pop the glass out, because ya never know when they could come in handy on another custom. Right then, carry on. hojoe 08-12-2009, 06:56 PM Thanks for the comments. It's a blast to drive. And sarcasim is always welcome.
