I have a crapload of Aurora tjet hubs with failed chrome. I kind of like the yellow hub look so I decided to strip them. I've stripped the wheels with Simple Green. Some are cool in that they came out nearly perfect in a dark green or red base color - but only a very few in those colors. Some of the yellow hubs came out perfect, but most have a reddish stain on them. I've tried Hydrogen Peroxide but it does not seem to touch the red stain (which is not from just rusty axles). Other than sanding/buffing to get the red off - any other ideas?

They may get the spray chrome treatment if I don't come up with something better.

You could just paint the wheels the color of your choice

I found that superclean cleaner degreaser will remove the residue after the chrome is gone. Be careful handling this stuff as it will suck the oil out of your hands. It has worked on stuff that Simple Green, Pine Sol and Spic and Span won't touch.
