R/C HILLCLIMB
Where—Marshall’s Hilltop Hobbies
When---Sunday September 6, 2009-12 Noon
(rain date Monday Sept 7th)
Why-----Because we want to
As a lot of our R/C racers and our store customers know I have a background in motorcycle hill climbing. I want all R/C drivers who may be interested to know that this planned event is not rock crawling, but a true speed event. Vehicles will run one at a time and will be electronically timed.
Each driver will get at least 3 runs at the hill; 4 if time isn’t a factor.
Entry fees will be $15.00 for the first entry and $10.00 for each additional entry. Because we don’t know just how many will show up for this event we are reluctant to purchase trophies and will give merchandise certificates as awards. The overall fastest time of the day will receive a very special award.
I think most drivers who have attended our events will admit we aren’t too stingy with our awards.
THE HILL
One of our regular drivers went out to the hill site with me and helped me measure the length of the run. We came up with 190 feet. That could vary a little. The hill is quite steep for the first 75 feet, then there is a dip and it continues up at a less steep angle to the top. A mixture of dirt and grass the hill should prove a good challenge for any driver.
CLASSES
After a lot of thought I came up with the following classes.
1/10 Electric 2wd (unaltered chassis)
Electric Monster Truck (unaltered chassis)
Electric Open “run what you brung”
Nitro Small Block 2wd (unaltered chassis)
Nitro Small Block 4wd (unaltered chassis)
Nitro Big Block 2wd/4wd (unaltered chassis)
Nitro Open “run what you brung”
Open Gas—1/6-1/5-1/4 scale
Saturday night September 5th is the last date for our 2009 pavement oval series. Come in for this, camp over, and stay and enter or just watch the hill climb. This is a “one of a kind” event. We hope to make it an annual affair.

FALL-WINTER 2009 EVENTS
Our indoor carpet racing for fall 2009 will start on Saturday evening September 26, 2009. As usual, the first two weeks will be “shakedown” weeks, and a 12-week points series will start on Saturday evening October 3, 2009. PLEASE NOTE ONE SMALL CHANGE—START TIME FOR OUR SATURDAY EVENING EVENTS WILL BE MOVED BACK ONE HOUR TO 5PM.
ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE—FALL CLASSIC RACE
Our 23rd annual Open House and our Fall Classic Race will take place this year on the first full weekend in November, Saturday November 7 and Sunday November 8, 2009. This has proven to be our largest event of the year. Don’t miss this one. Everything runs on this weekend—Oval, road course, Stadium Trucks, Slash Stadium, etc.
ROAD COURSE-STADIUM TRUCK SERIES
Last year showed a big drop-off in entries for road course racing. We thought about dropping road course racing from our schedule, but we really didn’t want to do that. This year we are going to run road course, stadium truck, slash stadium, etc. on the first Sunday of each month throughout the fall, winter, and early spring seasons. This; at least 6 event series; starts with our Open House Fall Classic Race. Other dates as Follows—Sun Dec 6,2009-Sun Jan 3, 2010-Sun Feb 7, 2010, Sun March 7 2010, and Sun April 11, 2010 (Sunday April 4th is Easter Sunday). We sincerely hope enough drivers put this on their schedule to make it worthwhile for us to continue; in a reduced form; to offer road course and stadium truck racing at our track.
