MiQ will be doing the limited edition Hall of Fame poster, and that's significant since next year is the 40th anniversary of Snake and Mongoose

I attended the 2009 Las Vegas Super Convention at Circus Circus with my wife and we had a GREAT time. She was excited when I told her the 2010 Las Vegas Super Convention was being held at the Monte Carlo instead of Circus Circus.

What happened with the Monte Carlo?

Well, we really wanted Monte Carlo, the problem was when it came time to sign a contract, they couldn't make guarantees on promises they had made, including cars inside, trading room floors being together and more. In the best interest of the overall event, we need to make sure these things were accommodated. 2011 we do plan on moving the event to a more upscale casino resort provided they can meet our demands.

no matter what, it will be an awesome time!

About 4 months out!

I'm sure funds are tight for everyone, but if you get a buddy or two; you can go for less than $500 bucks! Much less if you try harder!

The Diecast Hall of Fame Ceremony is now FREE to all convention participants! Friday, Feb 19th @ 7:00pm Circus Circus, Salon 4.

Also, accepting for inductee Dale Earnhardt's Hall of Fame award will be Maj. Gen. Tom Sadler. What an honor!

And who woulda thought that we could get BOTH the Snake and Mongoose funny cars under one roof? That's right everyone, they'll both be on display at the convention.

Get up close and personal with these, and our other Hall of Fame inductees at the autograph session immediately following the ceremony.

VEGAS BABY, YEAH!!!

Here's the three of us signing autographs on Saturday morning.
http://u2942.direct.atpic.com/32601/0/1711344/600.jpg

The fellow in the red shirt in the background is none other than Tom Daniels of custom die-cast and plastic kit fame (Rommel's Rod, T'Rantula, S'Cool Bus, etc., etc.). Not shown were a dozen or so more autograph signers like like Larry Wood, Troy Lee, Chip Foose...

We had a great time. At the Friday night awards ceremony, emceed by Joe Kelly in a tux, a half-dozen or so 2010 Die-cast Hall of Fame inductees accepted in person and gave some short but entertaining speeches: Tom "the Mongoose" McEwen and Don "the Snake" Prudhomme to name two. Dale Earnhardt Sr. was also inducted; his award was accepted by a retired Air Force general who was a friend of his. There was a customizing contest with hundreds of excellent entries. The three Maisto designers awarded our pick to Bryan Johnson who had some amazing cars there. There's one post about him on the Maisto blog now but we'll add more photos, soon. Bryan also won first in several categories, best engine and Customizer of the Year, too.

A half dozen real cars were on display, including one by Dennis Roth, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's son.

He even fired it up for a couple of minutes right in the Circus Circus hall.

CJ and his team from diecastspace.com did a fantastic job of organizing this convention.
