View Full Version : 1/64 car trailers
kiwidave 08-04-2009, 02:38 AM Hey Guys,
I have jumped across from the Slot car forums. Can anyone tell me where I can find 1/64 car trailers. I have built a couple of Drag cars and would like to put them on trailers with tow cars to display. Any help would be great!
Cheers Dave.

i think i bought the last 8 he had but it don't hurt to ask him.
only other good trailor out there right now in stores is the nascar truck- car and trailor at walmart and toys r us. thay range from 12 - 14 bucks or go to hobby shop and buy styrene 040 and some tubing and build one.
hope this helps:wave:
69Stang 08-04-2009, 09:26 AM Always love that trailer Gunn!
I am in the process of working on my first custom trailers now...a very loooong process I might add. But here are a few more photo ideas for you Dave.
The first is the Nascar trailer Gunn spoke of (sorry for the poor photo, shooting through the glass of the case). The first generations were all diecast (this one) while the more recent release have been molded plastic. This is a custom JL Mustang and a JL Ford for the tow...

Same trailer but with the original truck from the set (repainted)...

Last of the same trailer, but with yet another truck...you get the idea!

Now a few custom trailers....these were built by Dr. Olds, an HT member that I seldom see here anymore...(Paging Dr. Olds, Dr Olds?) Cars are my customs...

Same trailer, again shot through the glass...

Different trailer by the good doctor...

Hope these give you a few ideas as well. Good luck down there with the project, keep us posted and thanks for dropping in on us diecast guys!

craftymore 08-04-2009, 10:27 AM This is one that Camarors built and raoked me with. Believe it started out as a Maisto trailer and Bob added the tire rack.

Can you do a duplicate?? She is gorgeous!!
kiwidave 08-04-2009, 07:12 PM Thanks a lot guys. Gives me some good ideas. I have only been doing customs for about 6 months so am still learning most things! Love the racing Mustangs. Go the Fords! Here's one of the cars I want to put on a trailer with a tow car.
grayhouse 08-04-2009, 07:32 PM One, Jeff and I did a long time ago. This is before I droped it and it broke in about a half diozen pieces. I have since finaly got it all back together.

Dadvball 08-04-2009, 07:33 PM Extremely nice '55 you've done. That is one sweet slot car.
On the cheaper side of trailers, if you can find them, they are sold under the name Speed Wheels. I have picked them up in various pharmacy stores, under a buck each. Nothing as nice as what's been shown, but you can play with it a little. The one below received a wheel swap (after the pic), and I actually cut off the rear which was like a ramp.

One of my babies in that picture!! I like the lowering of the Ford - I need to do that to a couple.

camarors 08-04-2009, 08:29 PM I wish that I had ordered some of those Mini-Motors trailers when they were available.
Hey Dip, do you still have any left?
69Stang 08-04-2009, 11:13 PM First, the slot is just super Dave (not to be confused with Super Dave!) I love the bars on the back end!
Second, that has always been my favorite peice you have ever shown Grayhouse! I never grow tired of seeing it.
Last, Thanks for the kind words Dip, I will post it up in a flashback thread!

kiwidave 08-05-2009, 02:19 AM Thanks for your comments guys. You have been very helpful. Thanks! You guys do some excellent stuff. The trailer will have to have a tire rack. Will attempt making one and modifing a Diecast trailer I think?
69Stang that White van, blue #5 racing team is Cool! Craftymore that trailer is the one! That's what I'm looking at building.
Grayhouse I am super impressed with Essex wire racing team. I have 2 Shelby GT350 Mustang bodies coming soon. I have been inspired!!!!!
69Stang 08-05-2009, 07:13 AM OK, now were just going back and forth, but that batch of slots is just off the scale on the fin-o-meter! I have never seen that Mazda!
kiwidave 08-05-2009, 04:21 PM That's how the Mazda came from the factory. I just added the custom alloy wheels which have photo etched inserts. They came from a guy in the UK. I have about 6 sets of those wheels. The other two cars are custom builds. The pics below show the other 2 inserts he sells. Does anyone do photo etched parts in 1/64 for cars????? There is a fair bit of train stuff!
69Stang 08-05-2009, 10:19 PM HOLY COW!!! I NEED those wheels!
bob8748 08-06-2009, 12:03 AM I gotta show this again. Its an old pic, sorry. I didnt build it.

Slots and trays to slide the ramps in were an idea. But never happened.
kiwidave 08-06-2009, 01:44 AM bob8748, that Willys is cool!! I will have to do a tire rack. 69Stang the big problem with the slot cars is there is not a lot of choice of wheels. I have converted diecast wheels before like on the red Vette I showed earlier in this thread. The combined wheel and tire height is always an issue because if the car rides too high you lose the magnetic effect and the car just falls off the corners. Nothing is easy!!!! I managed to get this Vette to work with the big diecast wheels but had to buy super strong(expensive) traction magnets.
