View Full Version : Michiana RC Carpet Oval Racing- Mishawaka, Indiana
ToddFalkowski 08-03-2009, 09:47 AM Back and Better than Ever,
it's time for Michiana RC's 2009/2010 Oval Season!
Here's the start of the new thread for Michiana RC's 2009-2010 Oval Season. We have many new exciting things planned for the '09/'10 Winter Carpet Oval Season- stay tuned to the website and this thread for more information!
For this winter season, we will stick with selected Sundays, which will be announced soon. Also, our two trophy races will return this winter. Lastly, look for more action with the Northern Indiana Points Series, as well as continued group efforts between Michiana RC & Pete Russell's RC Speedway!
If you've never been to Michiana RC before- Here's a few reasons you'll wanna check us out!
* 36' x 60' track surface, with an approximate 120' runline.
* Fresh CRC "Fasttrack" Ozite racing surface.
* 12' wide infield, with "ice" corners- no hard corners!
* AMB Scoring which accepts Personal Transponders.
* RC Scoring Pro, the best software on the market.
* Good upstairs and downstairs pitting.
* Hobby shop on-site, carrying the essential items.
* A clean, fun environment!
For classes, we will run this season like last, where the core classes will remain intact. Here's a brief description...
Pan Cars- See the FULL EXPLANATION of our rules and thoughts on the classes HERE! (PDF File) (http://photos.hobbytalk.com/data/500/PRHS-MRCR_2009_Oval_PanCar_Rules.pdf)
Super Stock: Either 17.5/4 cell or 13.5/1 Cell LiPo
Pro Stock: Either 13.5/4 cell, 21.5/2 Cell LiPo, or 10.5/1 Cell LiPo
Bodies: Any readily-available NASCAR-style body allowed. Up to 1 ½” spoiler and/or wing allowed. No side dams allowed. You may cut out the back of the body.
Batteries: 1 Cell: Any ROAR-approved 1C LiPo. 2 Cell (21.5): Choice of SMC 3200mAh LiPo, 23C, 28C, or 40C. Four cell: Any ROAR approved NiMh cell, 4600mAh max.
Speed Control: All ROAR-approved sensored speed controls are allowed.
Motors: At this time, Novak SS or Ballistic Motors only.
Weight: 1 Cell LiPo: 36oz.
2 Cell LiPo: 38oz.
4 Cell NiMh: 41oz.
Outlaw Sprint Cars: No changes to this class, either. Rules will be "Pete's Rules", just like previous years. Novak 10.5 Motors, Six-cell, 4600mAh max NiMh battery, or 3800 Orion LiPo's. Also, I know there are some 13.5-powered sprint cars out there. You're welcome to run, but keep in mind, it's a 10.5 class- good luck.
Losi Mini Sliders: Rules will probably follow last years essentially "box-stock" rule. However, this will be reviewed. Ultimately, I would like to see a Youth Slider Class. We have a handful of kids that I feel would benefit from running together.
Other classes... We will generally recommend racers stay on the same style of rules as above, and ultimately adopting the "TOUR" style of rules. The last thing anyone needs is 40 classes with two racers in each one. We do have a "if there's three or more, we'll run it" rule. But, we recommend that racers stick to something "common"- bigger field = more competition and fun.
Check out our website, www.michianarc.com for directions and other information!
Thanks guys, for the continued support! Pat, Aaron and Todd- Michiana RC Raceways
Z-Main Loser 08-03-2009, 11:20 AM Any ideas on any test dates? Would like to see the 1c 10.5 vs. 2c 21.5 test at your track.
Looking forward to another fun season. Hopeful everyone from the area and beyond will be there to pack the house for every race date.

Z-Main Loser 09-18-2009, 07:54 PM I heard that the carpet goes down Sunday. Hopefully practice will follow within the next week or so.
Lennx 09-21-2009, 10:15 PM Cool, I dont think theres very many of us runnin oval pan cars in our area huh Z-Main, im talkin 2 of my buddies into startin hopefully it works .When was that Hooters thing hows that go
Z-Main Loser 09-21-2009, 10:50 PM There is a good sized group of oval racers over our way. The problem is getting everyone together at the same time. The on road following is strong and so is the oval when everyone comes out. I beleive the word is that MRCR will race oval once a month a Sundays. Hopefully with that schedule everyone in the area can make it a point to be there. The oval is a lot of fun and makes for some fast clean racing.
Hooters? There are several Hooters "things" which one are you asking about?
ToddFalkowski 09-22-2009, 08:44 AM Sorry I've been a little quiet on here, guys....
We at Michiana RC are definitely considering a "once a month" schedule. The great thing is that we have a fun track to race at- over the years there's been some incredible racing on the rug. There's also a lot of interest. But, as Derek mentioned- getting everyone in the same place has been difficult.
So, with that being said, we're still considering the schedule. I'd like to coordinate it where we get a group of racers together, and to be able to include the Michigan boys and others that have traveled to Mishawaka and had a great time with some incredible racing. Hell, I'd even invite Racknor! :)
Best suggestion- stay tuned.
Racknor 09-22-2009, 11:36 AM Todd that is so nice of you. But i was planning on being down there every week and now you are only running once a month!
Todd send me your dates and I can add them to the Michigan race schedule.
ToddFalkowski 09-22-2009, 11:48 AM Well, if YOU'RE coming every week, I'm sure we can make an exception... :)
I'll e-mail you a calendar- Travis and my stuff is all on there...
Lennx 11-02-2009, 02:48 PM Hey there Todd with the race day bein on Sunday can you have a practice the evening before or any time would be cool for setup and stuff plus I had to bump your page up you were fallin off the charts
Z-Main Loser 11-02-2009, 04:39 PM That would be a good idea and is probably what will happen. Now, I'm not part of the operations or anything like that with the track but with regards to the lack of chatter or race dates, these guys need to be sure that they are opening the doors to racers. In the past few years only a handful of guys show up on a regular basis. The big races draw a big crowd. So I'd suggested to everyone that views this thread to leave your input as to what day would work best for you. I know there are guys interested in racing here but everyone has to give these guys an idea on when would be the best time to open for racing and who will be there on those days. The talk is to either race on Saturday nights or Sunday mornings. I made the suggestion to race ever other Sunday morning. So its up to the racers when and if you race at MRCR. And yes, they due follow TOUR rules and work with Pete Russell's rules and schedule.
mlporkchop65 11-02-2009, 05:32 PM id like to run there from time to time, seems like a nice track, just my opinion but i think sunday mornin would be cool:)
Haines'd 11-02-2009, 09:04 PM you know ill be there for some left hand turns...... lol:)
ToddFalkowski 11-02-2009, 11:31 PM Hey guys... Derek's hit the nail on the head. We'd love nothing more than to open the track up, but certainly don't wanna be sitting there with three other people. Last year, we had a small but very dedicated group. We also had a decent following of "outa towners", guys like Racknor, Dean, Sparks, Ciecek from Michigan, as well as guys like C3, Deel, Mike Hussell... (thanks guys!) I'm considering opening the track for a day either the 14th (afternoon/matinee) or Sunday morning. Guys like Bajdek who DJ on Saturday nights (lucky!) would love Sundays... I've had some guys looking for an alternate to their normal Saturday nights, too...
So, with that said- 14th (Saturday) or 15th (Sunday)... ?
PS: Lenny, the race on the 29th (soon to be announced, oops, already did!) will have Saturday open on practice- should be from 12-8pm. I'm personally considering "doing the double" with Fort Wayne's Turkey race on Saturday night, then Michiana on Sunday. But, I'm sure I can find someone to watch the track if I do that.
I do thank you guys for your support.
jettvolks 11-03-2009, 09:55 AM Don't ya mean 14th or 15th? The 13th is a Friday night.
ToddFalkowski 11-03-2009, 10:03 AM Don't ya mean 14th or 15th? The 13th is a Friday night.

I "might" have a solution to that... If you're talking Bears!
Z-Main Loser 11-03-2009, 05:32 PM I "might" have a solution to that... If you're talking Bears!
Just announce the play by play every time the Bears have the ball.
"Cutler passes...Interception" repeat every 10 mins for 3 hours. You won't miss a thing. Besides the Colts play at the same time, and if that's not enough, Bears fans need to watch Sunday night football. While watching that ask yourselves, "How that working for ya?"
mlporkchop65 11-03-2009, 06:05 PM lmao i wont hold it against ya Derick:) i take it yer a colts fan? and yes im a Bears fan , just look at the body on my car lol

Z-Main Loser 11-03-2009, 08:34 PM I was looking at this weekends schedule. I don't know what time they play next week. But you can still call the same play by play.
