The Lotus Carlton was based on the Carlton 3000 GSE, itself a competitor for the BMW 5-series & E-class Mercedes.
To make the Lotus version, there were a few changes - the engine capacity was increased to 3.6 litres, it was also given a twin-cam head & two turbos. The suspension & brakes were uprated & the bodywork modified to house the larger wheels. The result was 377 bhp & 175 mph. 440 were built between 1989-92 - a further 1000, or so, left hand drive Opel Lotus Omegas were made as well.
A great model from Spark - the colour is a dark green, called Imperial Green.
