I'm running an Associated Dyanamic Strut Front End and want to know if adding shims to the kingpin increases droop(sag) or decreases it. The manual for this front end recommends 5 shims I believe but I plan on using WT spring buckets top & bottom. Should I still go with 5 shims or something else.

Adding shims decreases droop. What king pins are you planning on using? Remember the manual is geared to using the small dia and length assoc springs I.E. .018 or .020 without spring buckets. You have to look the whole package with regard to shimming.

I would advise building the front with no shims and then look at the droop and shim accordingly. I tend to run 0 droop on the right front and .020 to .030 on the left front.
But that is just my baseline, you have to adjust for conditions after that.

I have the 8423 kingpins which are in the Associated build manual Ron. Should I be looking at a longer kingpin.

I believe the short answer is yes, once you add the spring buckets you run out of room.
I believe WT offers "stock" replacement spring and well as the larger dia and length so you have to know which WT you are getting.

I run a 1.375" pin that comes from an Associated buggy rear a arm hinge pin, I think the part numbers is 9110 but I could be wrong about that. And the WT barrel springs. There are several king pins on the market, they are "long king pins" but not everybodies long is the same length. I believe that WT offers a long one.

Thanks guys for your responses. I found a set of Associated 1.375 Kingpins I didn't know I had. Thats what I get for having too much stuff laying around. Using your springs & spring buckets Rob, thanks.
