Careful with shipping...
While setting up an auction I checked the "largebox" option but did not type in the dimensions of the "large" box. So the shipping Ebay reported was short by $20... :freak: So I contacted Ebay about this and while Ebay regretted that it happened, Ebay was not responsible because the shipping estimator is offered as a free service and is not neccessarily accurate.
The other, smaller box I shipped in a different auction was shorted $3 on shipping...
So, if you sell on Ebay you better double check the shipping rate....

Yeah, I just sold a bunch of old bicycle parts and the shipping costs were very inaccurate. Problem was that I had to estimate the weight because they require a shipping cost to list an auction. And then you don't know exactly where it's going to be shipped to, so the final shipping at the end of the auction can get jacked up quite a bit. I ended up refunding partial shipping costs on several large items.
I think I'll stick to toy cars. Much easier shipping.

No one has to over pay or over charge for shipping. Unless you are out in the middle of nowhere you can give an estimate. Surely 5 bucks difference won't make or brake it. I sold some auto parts that were oversized and I made $5 for a $80 sale. My bad. RESEARCH, my freinds, is the best way to sell. Just don't sell it and then wonder why you are still in the hole. Been there done that.

I just pass the loss on to the next guy, problem solved.

After getting burned a number of times I finally got smart. I would box stuff up (not sealed, just packed as if it were ready to ship) and bring it to the PO for a shipping cost. Being on the east coast, I got the rate for the west coast. Anywhere closer will be cheaper if anything. I made the option of a shipping discount with multiple wins at actual cost, so if that happened, I can make a run to the PO for the new rate. It took a little running around, but at least I stopped getting burned on shipping after the sale.
