AQUA XK8

I just got my case of Detroit-Muscle and was examining the fine details. I noticed that on the 70 Olds 442 that M2 painted the sides of the engine compartment red. That makes for 5 colors under the hood. I like that. :)

The 1970 Olds 442 W-30 from R6. I didn't know that fact about the red inner fenderwells. M2 nailed that one perfectly. joejames 07-29-2009, 08:53 PM Just ran to the grocery store so I swung into Target. Looks like they put out a case this morning, so I picked up my two Olds. Definately Red inner fenderwells!! Kudos on getting that part of the W30 correct!! sean72 07-31-2009, 07:57 PM Hey guys, also notice that the lower side stripe is a little thicker than the lower side stripes on the release 2 & 4 Olds 442 cars that we did. This new one is a little thicker for the W-30 fender emblem under the 442. Thanks, Sean joejames 07-31-2009, 10:29 PM Hey guys, also notice that the lower side stripe is a little thicker than the lower side stripes on the release 2 & 4 Olds 442 cars that we did. This new one is a little thicker for the W-30 fender emblem under the 442. Thanks, Sean Yup, the thicker stripe was for the W30 cars instead of the thin stripe that standard 442's carried. http://webpages.charter.net/joejames1165/Emblem.jpg And here is what the Red inner fenderwells look like! http://webpages.charter.net/joejames1165/Under%20Hood.jpg triple20 08-02-2009, 08:54 AM A bit of clarification concerning 1970-1972 red inner fender wells... Not all 72 w-30 cars have red inner fender wells,in fact, most have black fender wells. The early 72 w-30's got the red fender wells, early in the 72 year GM ran out of red fender wells then started using black on the w-30's. I'm guessing they didn't want to produce any more red wells with the change of body style coming up for 1973. joejames 08-06-2009, 05:32 PM Yup, Walter knows his stuff! I was lazy and didn't feel like typing when I posted the pics of my 70. Here's the engine bay from a simply awesome 72 from a killer Muscle Car only car show I went to a couple of weeks ago! http://webpages.charter.net/joejames1165/W30%20Engine%20Bay.jpg 70_442 08-07-2009, 07:08 PM I'm glad to see you guys know your stuff. I thought I was obsessed with Oldsmobiles, but it's good to see that there are others out there. :) Wish we had stores that carried more diecast brands. The only way for me to get most of my stuff is from ebay. :( triple20 08-09-2009, 03:17 AM Thanks for the pic Joe. That is a great looking engine compartment, down to the right clamps and finishes on the parts(with the exception of the air cleaner foam seal). manual brakes and cruise control,lol...don't see to many w machines with cruise. :) joejames 08-12-2009, 02:38 PM Upon closer inspection, I have to give even more kudos to the under hood detail of this release! The engine is painted the correct color Blue for the W30 as well as the intake colored to simulate the factory aluminum casting. The only glaring guffaw is the front of the radiator is painted the same Blue as the engine. It might not have been an issue with me, except for the fact that the top of the radiator is Black. No reason for the front not to be so as well (and yes, I realize I may be splitting hairs with this one!). vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
